I made the cutest shortbread ice cream cones last month. I have a cute cookie cutter shaped like a scoop of ice cream in a cone, and painted the ice cream part with chocolate (melted a choc bar with a tbsp of butter) & let it set. My friends just about died of shock that I brought people cookies (usually I only bake for dogs).

Andit, I lived in Egypt for 6 months, loved it there. Bargainer's paradise. Did you go for a horse ride across the desert from the pyramids to Sadat City? We did it, was such a rush.

NS... I hope you get that printer! The store doesn't care if they have to courier it, even if they make no dollars on it, it gives them great word of mouth to do something nice like that for someone. And that is a GREAT deal. Sorry DS and DH giving you so much trouble, I don't even have a great suggestion except we could go on vacation. Mexico? Tahiti? Somewhere with great margaritas and hot guys.

I went to Egypt for my 'honeymoon' about 6 months after we got married. Spent 5 days there, then 2 weeks in Jordan (this is where my family is from) and 1 week in Saudi Arabia. I love that part of the world, not to be bias or anything but it is beautiful. Too bad there is alot of corrupt people running the countries there and ruining the history and culture in it. Jordan is so old and beautiful yet surrounded by violance. Such a shame. If anyone is ever wanting to go to that part of the world, let me know and I will give you some hints and tips and if in Jordan maybe even a place to stay

Mind is going ... gone! I made that Apple Cake recipe this a.m. I had to cut a piece out to fit it in the freezer bag (snicker snicker) Darn fine! For me, plain, but I think for dh a cream cheese icing with cinnamon .......... thanks for sharing (I picked our whole apple crab tree this summer, so I've got apples!

It is a beautiful part of the world. Shame that people have to be so silly and ruin everything with violence.

I spent 4 days in Cairo, not nearly long enough. Was part of a tour group for 3 days, then they went off to the beach (ugh, you don't go to the land of ancient civilizations to sunbathe!). On our free day, we had a sweet tour guide who gave us a private tour of areas the tourists don't normally get to see. We saw several St George Catholic churches (popular saint there) & went to where all the embassy offices were. Also to the necropolis/cemetery where poor people live in the mausoleums & take care of the graves. Sweetest people I ever met, barely had enough to eat but kept insisting on offering us tea.

Would love to travel around the area, but as a single white female, it's not advised. Have seen documentaries on Jordan & Saudi & would love to visit, but waay out of my price range. Would also love to see Dubai & Qatar. I'd also love to go to Israel - studied Masada in school & have always wanted to see it in person.

Oh, to have money & energy to do all these things. One can always dream.

so i'm impatient, and hubby is telling me to call the store. so he calls. it's in. in backroom. he goes down. nope. not his! they have 10 more comming. and a list in the book as long as your arm...

so i'm freaking at this pt.

hubby calls another store, they have 2. hubby says hold one for me, and gives his first name. i'm like DOH! get your butt over there and grab it, i don't believe anyone is actually going to hold it at this pt!

so i sent him, during rush hour (luckily the traffic is going the other way, but he will hit it on the way back tho )

still haven't heard from him and it's been almost 30 mins. now the store he chose to call, is in a hightraffic, 3 floor mall! omg. shoot me shoooot me shooooooooooot me.

he's going to get lost.

and he wonders why i freak? nothing goes right..NOTHING. well, never perfectly. i always have to work for it.

No horse ride, although we did keep getting offered "taxi" rides (horse, donkey, camel, jeep, anything that moved).

Sounds like you had a great time. We were only there 4 days, so not nearly enough time. The most amazing part was the view from our hotel room - we looked out at the pyramids.

Couldn't get over how sweet everyone was. Such a dichotomy when you see police with machine guns on camels by the pyramids.

Didn't buy much, only a couple of pendants & a few small pieces of crystal. Oh, and I brought home a papyrus print for each of my friends. I still have Anubis up on my wall.

I can tell you Saudi is not the place for you then as a SWF yes but Jordan is very liberal. It is amazing there and if you ever want to go I have tons of people there to show you around. Yes Egypt is so poor and as you saw living in the cemeteries yet very hospitable people. Ok lemme find a pic from Jordan. This is a pic of hubby and I in Petra in the Rose City. Thanks for the link. I haven't crocheted since I was a kid. I'll have to give this a try. Would love to make a pointsettia for the dog's collar (maybe the cat's as well).

As for stems, all I can think of is using a couple of pipe cleaners wrapped with that green paper tape (can't remember what it's called).

i think that's an awesome idea for both cat and dog collars as long as they don't try to get them off or eat them. that's a wondeful idea tho. so cute! i think i'm going to use lolcats suggestion and make one, and put a pin back on it. seriously. with all this stress can i really do 5 boquets??? and the pattern looks easy but time consuming, each petal is separate. and you got the green and red layers, then the small yellow center..?
