So glad that we put in more perrenials in the beds. Most of my annuals are in planters this year. Cuts down on all the work to do, no bending to plant and you can move them around. I bought 2 tropucal hisbiscus last year and brought them in for the winter. One actualy is getting blooms! The other not so much, I had prune it back and see how it does. Its been pouring off and on all wedkend so far. We may get too much!
The most serious gardening I do would seem very strange to an onlooker, for it involves hours of walking round in circles, apparently doing nothing." --Helen Dillon

I noticed today a few rose's are in bloom. Loads of buds too. My mandevilla is about to bloom too. Geraniums and petunias are doing well. With all this rain I haven't watered the garden for a few weeks.

Rain has been adequate to drench flowers but not sure how much bounceback ability smaller flowers have to recover after being knocked over on stalks. Roses are doing well but two bushes have too many branches growing and few blooms. Will have to cut back branches.
The sticky stalks flowers (don't know name) have some in bloom and others on verge of blooming. The seeds had scattered outside of their usual little zone so I have been trying to remove the others as they grow like weeds!2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

I just spent the last 2hr weeding the garden. I discovered that the cutworms are much worse than I had thought. Only 1 in 6 potato plants grew, some of my rows of peas and yellow beans do not have a single plant, half of my squash plants simply didn't grow, same goes for my carrots, beets, and swisschard. I know that the growing season has been very poor so far this year, but my garden is absolutely pathetic. I plan on re-planting peas, and zucchini, etc. in the next couple of days, even though it is late. The ground is much too wet to do anything other than pull weeds, I barely used my hand shovel. Any suggestions regarding the cutworms? I already squish any that I can find.

I just came across this. I don't know what I have but whatever it is likes my Bok Choy a lot
Unfortunately I let it go to seed so I am letting whatever is eating it have a filed day in the hopes it leaves the rest alone.

Patty what a beautiful yard you have, what a difference to our growing season in Alberta. I was excited to see my first buds on my Hydrangea yesterday and my peonies haven't even bloomed yet!! My cucumbers are only about a foot tall!!

It's incredible to think that we had the most horrible freezing spring in years and now we are on our 6th day of 30+ heat. Things have just grown through the roof. If you would have told me a month ago this would be one of the better growing seasons I would have taken your temperature
