Life isn't a party, and parties weren't meant to last, so we should all party like it's 1999. RIP Prince. This article sums up how I feel.

Actually one of my favourite Prince songs would be Little Red Corvette. To say he was accomplished would be an understatement. Check out this discography.

A royal coincidence? Niagara Falls was to be illuminated in purple tonight to honour tbe90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth, the same day that Prince passed away. Purple Rain.

Yeah, the media is making it about the two royals - unfortunate coincidence.

The years he was emerging and making his mark were before my time. He helped to shape my sense of music in the 80's, and I loved him with The Revolution.
Of course Purple Rain was watched repeatedly, and I would lie on my floor, headphones on with the Batman soundtrack on repeat.

I wasn't much into him post The Revolution, and that's ok.

was shocked to hear that prince had died at such a young age, and yet that he was 57,
    seemed ageless
snl did a nice tribute and much music has hours long specials,
    http://www.much.com/
    including interviews.
musically i found he was so very fined tuned, in recordings, videos, performances,
not many can. so very sad,,,

(for the mention of the 2 royals connection - first info i heard about this was on the radio
"...death of a prince on the same day as the birth of a queen"
startled my brain, until more info,,,)

You may not know his name, but if you are of a certain age, you surely remember his products -

RIP - Phil Kives, who brought you everything from hamburger patty stackers to hit music records with his company K-Tel International, died on Wednesday. He was 87.

Founded by Kives in the 1960s, K-Tel marketed household items such as the Patty Stacker, the Bottle Cutter, the Veg-o-matic food cutter, Super Slider snow skates and the Miracle Brush.

The company was also behind numerous music compilation records with titles like Mini Pops, Hooked on Classics, Sound Explosion and Disco Motion.

Just as memorable as K-Tel's products were the advertisements for them — catchy commercials that are recognizable in Manitoba and beyond.

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manito...obit-1.3556818

The company has a large back catalog of Billboard-charting hits, by the original artists, focusing on songs from the 1950s through the 1980s. Tracks include The Twist by Chubby Checker, What I Like About You by The Romantics, Little Richard’s Tutti Frutti, Surfin’ Bird by The Trashmen, and Help Me Make It Through The Night by Sammi Smith.
K-tel distributes more than 200,000 songs worldwide on digital platforms, including Amazon and iTunes, and licenses songs from its catalog for use in commercials (e.g., Nike, Fiat, Coke and KFC) films (e.g., Spiderman, The Dallas Buyers Club and Hotel Transylvania 2) and television programs (e.g., Ray Donovan, Breaking Bad, Californication, Mad Men and Transparent) worldwide.

    BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!

This site shows the records and products - I know I had some of the records.
