I'm no expert by any means but squash and cucumbers are runners and need space to do so. As for the lettuce and spinach they need there own bit of space look into square foot gardens for these next year in your raised beds. I would think the beets and radishes would do well in there too.
It's alot of hard work but oh so worth it. Now if we could all do as well as kidsteph we could put weston out of business lol

Question do you cut off all your raspberry bushes at the end of the season so you have all new growth the following year

I cut down only all the dead bushes; the ones that produced fruit that year. I usually do that the following spring so there is no question that I am cutting the dead ones.
New canes I leave but don't cut back at all. I am quite pleased with this years' haul over 375 cups and I lost lots due to wasps eating the berries.

Raspberries still ripening. Too bad it is too dark to pick by the time I get home from work. It will have to wait until Saturday.

Other than my perennial ferns, hostas and flowers that I got from other gardeners, threw into my garden, crossed my fingers and hoped for the best, I don't really garden but I really want to give it an honest try next year. I usually get to the seedling stage and A.D.D. kicks in and I *squirrel!*.
Right now, I am experimenting with re-growing foods from the grocery store in my windowsills (because sh*ts and giggles that's why!) So far, I'm growing beet greens, green onions and this basil. I don't have pics of the other two but this basil is what got me started.
We bought a little pack of President's Choice basil that sit in water inside those plastic thingies in the produce section to throw into eggplant parmesan and I took a little bit with a stem, trimmed the stem, threw it in water on my windowsill for about a week and a half (changed the tap water every other day/as I remembered) and it grew roots, then I threw it in some soil.
I also took a leaf for further experiment and did the same thing and it also grew roots so I planted it too (seen in picture). I didn't even know it was possible (did I say, I'm not a gardener). This is a pic I took a while ago. The brown spots are where my four year old played gardener ha! But anyway, both cuttings are thriving now and in a new, larger planter, those browned leaves died and fell off on their own but it's growing taller and getting new leaves. I have NO idea what I'm doing and Basil plant doesn't seem to care.
I want to see if parsley and mint works the next time we buy some at the store.Last edited by frugallegemom; Thu, Nov 17th, 2016 at 08:39 PM.

It may be December but my garden is still producing. Cilantro, chives, Sorrell, mint, rosemary and the October garlic planting are popping up.

I am so jealous of the raspberry photos.....I grew up eating raspberries and can't seem to grow them now.
Question for everyone - I brought my mum (chrysanthemum) into the house from outside. I realize it is too late to plant it in the garden so how would I look after it indoor till next spring? It's a massive one and I don't want to just leave it outside to die.
