The priest said that since it's been raining, the clay is degrading, so they will either be taking it off or moving it.

Finland fears Russian aggression following surge of Moscow propaganda

The Kremlin has been accused of running a 'systematic lying campaign' against Finland, with officials in Helsinki anxious over Russia questioning the legality of its independence.
The claim comes amid increased security concerns in Finland following Moscow's annexation of Crimea and tensions between Russia and the west over the movement of nuclear-capable missiles in the Balkan Sea.
Both Finland and Estonia accused Russian fighter jets of violating their airspace last week, with Finnish jets twice scrambled after Russian Su-27 planes were reportedly detected over the Gulf of Finland - a claim the Kremlin denies.

The original head belonging to a statue of Jesus at a Sudbury, Ontario church has been returned.

Father Lajeunesse said a woman returned the head on Friday, after reading stories about it in the news and social media.
The woman said the person who took the head was suffering from personal problems, according to Lajeunesse.
The priest told Radio Canada that he would not file a complaint over the theft, and is simply happy that the head has been returned.

Trudeau names 9 new independent senators

They are the first senators to be chosen under an arm’s-length process that saw more than 2,700 people apply to fill the 21 vacancies in the 105-seat upper house.
Trudeau is poised to announce two more batches of appointments within days, filling the remaining 12 empty seats — six from Quebec, six from Ontario — and, for the first time, putting senators with no partisan affiliation in the driver’s seat.
When he’s done, independent senators will hold a plurality of 44 seats, outnumbering the Conservatives’ 40 and the independent Liberals’ 21.
The prime minister said the new appointment process is merit-based and open.

Your Prime Minister has signed the free trade agreement with the EU - hope you guys know what you are getting into - they have rules and regs for EVERYTHING to do with food production, etc., but their farmers do not adhere to but if you choose to trade with them you will have to. I am so glad we are going to be getting out of the EU in a couple of years, if not sooner.

Canada is trading with the EU, not joining the EU. There is a huge difference.

Lower priced EU products for Canadians.

Higher priced EU products for the UK, once they Brexit.

Higher prices are already happening as the UKP has fallen against many major currencies in the past few months.

    https://www.theguardian.com/business...ce-supermarket

Unilever has resolved its dispute with Tesco and says well-known brands including Marmite and Ben & Jerry’s will be back on the shelves.
It emerged on Wednesday that Tesco was running short of stock of a range of household brands from Marmite to Comfort fabric conditioner after a row with its major supplier.

The consumer brands company halted deliveries to Tesco after the supermarket refused to stump up across-the-board price rises of about 10% for its range of brands.
However, after both companies’ share prices fell on Thursday and Unilever was criticised for blaming the attempt to increase prices on the fall in the value of the pound, a deal was reached late in the afternoon.
The food and household goods supplier said: “Unilever is pleased to confirm that the supply situation with Tesco in the UK and Ireland has now been successfully resolved.
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/...er-tesco-reje/

Morrisons has become the first supermarket to raise the price of Marmite since a row broke out between the spread’s maker Unilever and rival chain Tesco two weeks ago.
Morrisons has put up the price of the spread by 12.5pc, meaning that a 250g pot of Marmite Original now costs £2.64, according to The Grocer magazine. Three other versions of Marmite have risen by a similar amount, which is more than the 10pc price hike Unilever demanded of Tesco.
"Marmitegate" erupted just over two weeks ago when Tesco stopped stocking Unilever products in a row over price. The consumer goods maker, which is behind brands such as PG Tips and Persil, was believed to be demanding price rises across its products to compensate for the fall in the value of the pound since the UK’s vote for Brexit in June.
Other major supermarkets have apparently kept the price of Marmite the same since the public row, apart from Asda, which has actually lowered the price.
A Morrisons spokesman said: “Sometimes we have to increase prices as a result of costs rising although we do our best to avoid this. More often than not we have been reducing prices and more than 3,000 products are currently cheaper in our supermarkets than they were last year.”

EU, Canada sign free trade deal

The European Union and Canada signed a free trade agreement on Sunday that aims to generate jobs and growth though it must still clear some 40 national and regional parliaments in Europe in the coming years to enter fully into force.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau signed the treaty along with the heads of EU institutions, a step that should enable a provisional implementation of the pact early in 2017 with the removal of most import duties.

I am pleased to see the Canadian Government conclude the final chapter in what has been an incredible effort by so many in securing unprecedented free market access to our European allies. When we started these negotiations years ago, we envisioned not only continuing to expand Canada’s trade agreements for our shared, continued prosperity but wanted to create an environment where Canadian businesses have preferential access to over 500 million EU customers; something that will now reshape Canadian markets and exports for generations to come. Canada is the first G7 country to have a trade agreement with the EU and of that we should be very proud.

How true my previous posting above was - a year in, and things are getting worse and worse...

Deeper deficits, no sign of balanced budgets in economic forecast

The Liberals have, once again, downgraded their economic outlook, projecting deeper deficits than announced either during the 2015 election campaign or in the 2016 federal budget.

By the end of the current fiscal year, the country will be almost $31 billion in the red, according to the fall economic update released Tuesday – that’s $1.3 billion beyond the $29.4 billion deficit Finance Minister Bill Morneau forecasted in the March 2016 budget.

Throughout the months-long campaign, Liberal leader Justin Trudeau campaigned on a pledge to run “modest” deficits of $10 billion.

Trudeau was also elected on a promise to balance the books by 2019-20. Now, the government is projecting a $24.2 billion that year ($18.2 billion when taking the emergency funding into account), and balanced budgets aren’t even on the radar.
