Oh, Skippy - any chance of your meds getting changed so they aren't causing gut trouble?

So sorry you are having such hardship to deal with!

    Skippy,

Ask your docs about Targin. It is used to treat cancer pain & has been effective in gthe treatment of other disorders.

I have a friend who swears by that LivRelief Cream (it's about $25.00)

When you have pain as your constant companion every moment & minute of your life is occupied by dealing with "it".

Wish I had a magical solution.

I am in a lot of pain today. I have a bad migraine and my leg is in a serious amount of pain. I tried to buy some jeans this morning, but I couldn't find any that would fit in such a way that it would not cause me pain (lose enough in the leg). I bought a couple things at Sobeys...their 3 day sale items. My leg hurt more the longer that I was out. I had to call dh at work because I felt so bad about wanting to leave LO at daycare for the afternoon. Dh told me that LO is ok at the daycare, he loves it there. I just need to take care of myself for a few hours. I called the daycare and I will pick him up at around 4:00pm. It's just brutal today. I took 2 extra strength Tylenol (only pain killer I am allowed to take). I am planning on soaking in a bath and then I am going to try to take a nap. The pain is so bad that I am literally in tears right now. LO got up at 6:00am this morning and I already knew at that point that my leg was going to hurt...I just hoped it wouldn't be too bad.

A friend of ours stopped by because he wanted me to keep his fiance's birthday present at our house so that she wouldn't see it. First words out of his mouth was that I didn't look good and that he thought I was sick. Guess it was pretty obvious that I am in this amount of pain (before I started crying).

Needless to say, I didn't get around to doing any of the stuff in the kitchen. I'll pop back in later.

For anyone who was wondering...I put an update in my "Baby Leo" thread regarding my LO. He turned 1yr old earlier this month.

I hope your starting to feel better angela. I found this out off a support site for EDS but it might work for others with chronic pain too... a husband was putting pressure on the nerve a few inches higher then the pain... i can't guarantee it will work but i tried it one day when my hip was dislocated and i was shopping... either i was going to throw up or pass out and i was not sure which would happen first. I put pressure on nerves about 4 to 6 inches higher and pushed pretty hard... wow did it help. This of course does not solve the source of the pain and it isn't a long term solution... more of a temp bandaid.... but it can sometimes help get through temporary situations.

Ok guys I get Migraines and i know other do to. I am very leary of medications because i get a lot of adverse side effects and allergic reactions to them. (like i can't take opiates at all so if the motrin doesn't work i have to suck it up buttercup!) So I am starting to look into other methods that might help give me relief from pain. I looked up reflexology and found a pro showing us how to help ourselves with migraines. What I like is that it doesn't cost us anything to try and we don't have to leave the house when we are not up to it to attempt a treatment... if you have a rather awesome husband or wife to rub all your good spots this could be even better!

Love you guys and i hope it helps!

I just got LO back to sleep. My migraine is still fairly bad, but my leg isn't hurting very much right now. Thank you all for your kind words and support. I'm going to head back to bed now.

I haven't posted in quite a while, sorry! I didn't forget about you all. So sorry to hear that so many of you are struggling with more pain. Unfortunately that is the reason for my absence on this thread as well. I have some interesting info to share though! I have been seeing a physiotherapist for the past few months for my pain condition. For those of you that don't know, I was in a bad car accident 4 years ago and suffered injuries to my back and neck. I have since had severe pain all over my body. Several Dr's have diagnosed me with fibromialgia. My Dr. Has always believed that there was something more going on. The physiotherapist doesn't have me doing any real exercise, he believes that I have Central Nervous System Sensitization Syndrome. I have uploaded a couple of pdf files that explain the condition in detail, the one is short and explains it very simply. The other article is a summary of all of the findings on pubmed, it is in medical terminology. Basically from what I understand, what happens is that when we get injured our nervous system becomes stimulated. Once the injury has healed your nervous system should return back to normal. What happens with central nervous sensitization syndrome is that the nervous system does not return to normal. Your nervous system becomes "sensitized", hyperactive. It's like someone turned the button "on" to your nervous system and now it won't shut off. Everything starts to hurt you, even the lightest touch. Your muscles spasm, you have frequent headaches, feel weather changes long before they happen. I also have frequent bouts of nausea and dizziness, jaw pain, hip pain, neck pain, back pain, fatigue, trouble sleeping, overall body pain, inability to exercise, too much activity causes me worse pain. This has been linked the Fibromialgia. I thought this may be helpful to those of you who like me have suffered an injury and have felt worse pain over time instead of getting better. Please be aware though, that this is not a very widely known disorder. My Dr. Had never heard of it before, but was willing to look at the medical documentation I had found.

This is for the people like me who love their heating pads!!! Or for those who are thinking of investing in one.

I invested in an infrared heating pad a little over a month ago. The one I purchased has jade stones in it that warm up to heat the pad. The idea of these pads is that the infrared heat is supposed to help heal, not just heat. Also the heat penetrates much more deeply into your body (muscle tissue). I have found that my infrared heating pad has been well worth the investment. It actually relieves the muscle pain, helps with headaches, relaxes muscles. It feels to me like it is helping to heal my muscles. I purchased the Therasage infrared heating pad from amazon it costs between approx. $165.00-190.00 depending on which method of shipping you choose. I find that I can not use it all day long, like my old heating pad because you actually will start to sweat. If you use it for a little bit, a couple of times a day it seems to help a lot.

I had to post after I read this. I injured my back (2 herniated disks and a severely compressed sciatic nerve June 2012) I tried various things along with pain meds which I didnt want to take. Finally in May 2013 I went to a laser therapy pain clinic that my friend told me about, out of desperation as my next step was an operation which I didn't want to have! (which I think is along the same lines as the type of heating pad mentioned above) Shes into alternative and natural lifestyle.
First treatment I did feel more sore than usual they told me I would. But because I was feeling a bit more sore I didn't go to my next appt 2 days later. The next week I had more appts which I kept as I was feeling a bit better by then. I had about 4 appts, then got sick with the flu. BUT I was feeling more pain relief than I had from anything else I had tried. I have to highly suggest anyone who hasn't tried Laser Therapy to do so. Its the price of a massage and for those fortunate enough to have insurance coverage is covered under massage therapy as well. It treats a variety of conditions. Here is a link to the clinic I went to.http://www.winnipegpaintreatmentcentre.com/
Hopefully you can find one in your area and find some relief. Most places I think claim to cure pain, which perhaps for some people they do, but I think its still a great treatment for good temporary pain relief. I actually put off my June scheduled surgery as I was feeling that much better! Told them I wanted to try this treatment first.
I still had to have surgery in Aug to release the nerve, but I was able to enjoy some of our summer weather and days feeling more comfortable than I had since I injured myself. I was still taking painkillers but was able to reduce the amount I was taking until after surgery.
It feels great too, so warm and soothing during treatment, like a massage, except you are left alone most of the time while the machine does it work.
Hope this helps at least one of us. Good luck!

I did my usual walk at the mall but was hurting all the time even with my medication. Now I can barely move so its time for the heating pad and more meds. Trouble is I contribute nothing around the house
