Good evening all, starting off another frugal month! I sold an item on kijiji and have a few more to post, will be less to haul out to a yard sale when the time comes. This month we are going to the snakepits with family, camping while celebrating DH's 40th (will be catered!) and going to see our favourite comedian. Its gonna be a great month!

Jasperandchar I posted yesterday in the April thread regarding my nephews. My brother and I came to an agreement for this week. They are paying me about 1/3 the going rate for drop in kids their age. This way I am still helping them out, but also getting a small amount of compensation. A new daycare person contacted me asking for a drop-in spot tomorrow, but I'm fullback with my nephews tomorrow.
Edit: I wanted to clarify that it was two different mom's that contacted me regarding my home daycare, which is promising.Last edited by Angela273; Mon, May 1st, 2017 at 11:40 PM.

I'm sorry to hear that your daughter is getting divorced. I'm sure that you will be as supportive as possible. My older sister (35) is getting divorced for the second time and their house is going up for sale. They have twins that are turning one this month. Both my mom and my dad have each been divorced twice.

Angela-Amazing that you, your brother and your sister all have twins-and all around the same age! Hope you continue to get calls and bookings in your home daycare.
CG-also sorry to hear about your daughter getting divorced. I am sure she will manage as you say and it sounds like she or he sees this as the best solution to whatever issues were going on between them.
J and C-hope you get the door on your chicken coop.

Lizzie Bargain We are the oldest 3 of my mom's 6 children. My mom has children between 35 and 14. My sister and SIL struggled with infertility for years. We each had a boy first and then we all had twins within 15 months of each other. My SIL had a 5yr old son (took years to concieve and carry to term), and then a set of boy twins from IUI. Our son was nearly 3yrs old when we had our boy/girl twins. My twin pregnancy is called spontaneous because twins don't run in the family. My sister had a 15yr old son from a previous relation and newborn boy/girl twins from IVF. My parents have 7 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. Dh and I have many loving jokes about the cluster of twins, but we all live in communities that are hours apart.

It's too bad you all live so far from one another. That would be awesome to get them all together often. For my mother, her grandchildren are spread apart in age but all are very close to her. (the teen will text her before me sometimes for a ride to work etc lol) My youngest and my niece are 10 years apart but its fun to watch them engage.

Angela-I thought maybe twins did run in your family but as you say yours are the only spontaneous set. I meant to also say sorry to hear that your sister is getting divorced with young children. Never easy I am sure.

Let's wish all the families with newborns/young children going the divorce route stability and harmony through the separation/divorce journey. Hopefully all grandparents will be able to keep in touch with the children as well.
@jasperandchar -the rain owns the week. Seems tomorrow in Hamilton is the earliest that one can think about grasscutting. BTW, did you get any roosters in your flock of chickens? Just curious if you have an avian alarm clock.
@Angela273 -it's encouraging that two different parents have contacted you-your ads work!2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

The two sets of twins are playing nicely together. SIL and Nama will stop by so that I can quickly pick up our son from Pre-K. When talking with SIL this morning I found out that she has been denied government disability since her kidneys started to function before Christmas. She only has 14% kidney function, has to do bloodwork every 2wks to monitor it, and she's on the kidney transplant wait list. The government doesn't think that she is sick enough for disability, even though they have a letter from her kidney specialist that states that she can never work again. My brother got a job where they moved to, but he isn't earning as much as he used to.
I posted an item for sale yesterday and it was picked up this morning for $5.
edit:
lunch: wieners, KD, boiled mixed veggies, and milk
supper: cabbage rolls (last from the garden trade last fall), boiled/fried cheddar perogies, ham sausage, boiled California veggies, sour cream, and milk. Invited SIL and Nana (her mom) to join us if they want to.Last edited by Angela273; Tue, May 2nd, 2017 at 01:22 PM.

The drawstring replacement on the blue top-either Mom put the garment in the dryer or she clipped off the plastic ends on the new string, so one end is now fuzzy/acting like static electricity while other end seems to be still compressed. I was not going to volunteer to repeat the bodkin work with lace #2.
Found a penny on my morning walk (#23). Time to tally up the April Other Money amounts and post in the relevant thread.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

Afternoon everyone,
@Ciel yes we actually have 3 roosters, 1 is very vocal and the alarm clock, 1 we never hear and the 3rd only crows once in a blue moon but the white vocal one makes up for everyone else's quietness.
So we have 10 laying hens which are 1 year old, 1x 2 month old pullet and 9 x 6 week olds. The 2 month old is caring for the youngers, that the othersshe is spreading her wings and warming the younger ones, the 2 month old & 6 week olds are in a separate pens. I hope she keeps that temperament because she may be a breed that goes broody. Broody means they want to hatch eggs. And you can put whatever types of eggs under her and she will hatch them so the possibilities are endless (ducks, turkey, pheasant, chickens, quail, quinea fowls)++++
Supper tonight is homemade burgers with bean salad.
I have a pork roast thawing for tomorrow. Las night was whole roasted chicken with the works, stuffing, etc.
Took a chance since I called environment Canada since it looks okay outside this am and they were only calling for rain this afternoon, so I washed dh's dress pants and ds2's pants as well. I brought them in at 1pm because it looked like rain, they are drying downstairs. And it is drizzling on and off now.
Wishing everyone a wonderful afternoon & evening.2019 is the year that we continue to save before we buy!!!

Still raining here. Saved me washing my car, all the bird poop is gone! Now just need to give it a good vacuum and wipe down inside. The sky is brighter now so hopeful it will be a nice day tomorrow.

Jasperandchar I grew up on a small acreage with a variety of animals. We had some large brown laying hens that we called cluckers. They were fluffy brown hens that liked to hatch any eggs that we slipped under her. She had a better success rate hatching eggs than we did in our incubator. I have a lot of memories of that acreage, I lived there from Grade 2-12. My dad eventually sold it after I was gone a few years.
I need to learn more about my van. It has been 8 months since I bought the van and it has suddenly alerted me that it needs an oil change. I'm pretty sure that I haven't put 5,000km on it since it was purchased last September. I just booked it in for an oil change at the GM dealership in town. I won a free oil change a long time ago and I am finally going to use it.Last edited by Angela273; Tue, May 2nd, 2017 at 06:06 PM. Reason: Fixing auto correct.
