Good morning, everyone!
I've been posting little blurbs here and there, but haven't had the energy to touch base here; it's been a hectic couple of days.
DH's surgery went well...we got to the hospital at 6:30, didn't make coffee at the hotel, and nothing was open at the hospital! DH had to find a coffee shop somewhere and brought back some vile coffee and bagels which we pretty much tossed into the garbage. He was taken in for his surgery at about 8am, then we had to wait an hour for his biopsy results which took an hour and a half, then he was called in...another freezing, more surgery, then into the waiting room again to wait for a half hour, then released. He wasn't in any pain, was find, so we went to Ikea on the way home.
However, half way home his incision started to bleed and long story short, it still is, thanks to Warfarin, so he's going to go to our family doc's clinic and maybe get stitched up a little more, who knows? I think camping this weekend is out. So far, anyway. He just left for the clinic.
We did visit the Bay, Nordstrom's and everything in-between the day before, but it's no fun doing that in a wheelchair, so that was disappointing. My DH was an absolute angel, but it's just not the same as popping into shops and scoping out things I didn't know I needed. Sigh. We had a late dinner at Jack Astors kitty-corner across Yonge because that's about as far as I can walk, then grabbed a taxi back to the hotel.
I see everyone survived the week, too...... @avoncallingu , like everyone else, I sure wish we lived closer and that I was capable of helping you out...you know I'd do anything I could to make this move easier for you, my Friend. Time sure is flying for you.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! I see that you southerners are expecting lots of rain again,...we're getting some overnight and likely into tomorrow also...another reason to stay home this weekend.

Hi folks!
@Lynn49 - I hope dh is fine and doesn't have to wait long at the clinic. I would imagine they would take him in quickly.
My buzzer to the lobby is not working and now my cell phone says it has no Sim card-emergency calls only. Unless Sadie ate it in the middle of the night -I don't understand!
My friend is due to show up for a round of packing so I should probably go downstairs to wait for her.
Pack-a-pack-a-pack......they call me the Packer! Just a little pre-season nudge, @Lynn49

....caught the reference right away, @avoncallingu........the best part about fall arriving.....NFL begins!!! Too funy...I just watched Pitch Perfect and Clay Matthews had a role, singing as part of an acapella group.....{{{drool}}}. Oh, my......
DH was taken in right away, the doc tidied up the incision, applied a very absorbent pad and bandage and he's much more comfy now. Should it start up again, he's to go back and get patched up again. The joys of warfarin. Thank you for your concern, Sweetheart, I'll pass it along to him.Last edited by Lynn49; Fri, Jul 7th, 2017 at 12:41 PM.

Kinda excited to start this vegan diet (well I still have 3 bottles for coleslaw dressing so not totally vegan yet lol) Found some good recipes for vegan burgers and chickpea "tuna" salad. One of the burgers uses sweet potatoes which I love. Also the tater tots I want to buy are vegan too lol. So the first thing will be the sweet potato burger with tater tots and coleslaw. The dempster buns I want are also vegan even though they don't label them as vegan.

Hey @GoodBoy I know you probably like your meat, well me too lol. However my stupid gout used to act up at most twice a year and now it does every couple weeks. I need to try and stay away from meat and even soy protein.

Wow, quite the transition, @cabmonk !!
I wish you ALL the best with your vegan W.O.E....May I ask why vegan and not vegetarian?

@Lynn49 I don't know, it might lean more towards vegetarian down the road. I just need to see what happens with vegan first and if I can actually handle it. I know I tried in the past but wasn't fully committed but I have to try something and my pain has been worse than previous years. Also means cutting down on sugar especially.

@cabmonk , cutting down on red meat and tuna is great, but other meats aren't in the firing line for gout, are they?
As far as those tater tots....just watch the calorie count on those puppies!! I'm sure they're astronomically laden with fat which doesn't help at all. I get tht you're trying to do the right things, and you're on the right track (because I have arthritis which can be closely linked to gout, but in a very different way and watch my intake of those things when I'm "being good")....I've also read that Vitamin C , 500mg daily, can decrease uric levels. I used to take 1000mg daily...not sure why I stopped doing that...hm.
Refined carbs are lousy for us, too, in more ways than one.
Keep up the good work, Cabbie...I hope you have really great results!!!

I'm sorry to hear that your DH's incision opened up @Lynn49 , but happy that he went into a clinic, seen quickly, and patched up. I hope it doesn't open up again. Give him by best wishes please.
@cabmonk - I wish you all the best with your diet. I'm sure you'll do well. Where's there's a will, there's a way.
