Pics taken today of my modest little community garden plot. Harvested a whole lot of lettuce!
Already planning for next year....will NOT plant broccoli. The corn seedlings I got free from the local nursery aren't doing very well.
I just may get some tomatoes this year !!
Weeding was done after I took the pics LOL

The green beans out back are really thriving, I picked another 12 oz worth of them this morning! Next to snow peas they are one of my favourite veggies.

@redhdlois -love, love those flower blooms! You have a cutting garden to dress up your summer table. Such cute heads of lettuce! Amazing crops. If you have red plastic or those red plastic plates for tomato plants, putting the red items around each plant supposedly helps the plants to ripen faster (it's a colour light benefit). Since you have corn and beans, do you have the third sister, squash, in the mix (not including the cucumbers)?

    Thank you :D
Sweet peas are my favourite.....I couldn't have a garden without planting them. They are called 'knee highs' as I didn't have a high place to plant them up against, but these are getting to be about 4' high even though it said they only grow to 3'.
I have lettuce coming out of my ears !! I have some romaine that's coming along too that I started from seed.
Yes, I have a 3rd sister (never heard of that) I am growing some zucchini but it's behind schedule so not sure when/if I will get some.
I harvested the cuke two days ago and have eaten most of it.....it was a seedling and supposed to be english but it's more like a field cuke, but it's still really good

The Three Sisters are what First Nations peoples call the planting of beans, squash and corn together.

Picked another pound and a half of green beans today, these ones had a chance to grow thicker and longer than the last batch. Snipped the ends, cut and steamed them straight away, had some with my dinner and put the rest into the freezer.
Also picked a yellow zucchini, sliced and sauteed that up too....couldn't wait for that one to grow bigger....ha ha
    So yummo!

What a glorious plant, it makes me feel like I have a green thumb but I didn't really do anything to it.

That's great, walker! I had a red one last year and managed to keep it alive all winter on my kitchen table. Come spring, it decided to give up on life and dropped all of its leaves. I took it outside to be with the new pink one I bought and left it alone. I did water it when it needed it but other than that I gave him his space. Wouldn't you know that the silly thing is full and bushy and it's blooming again?

Our other plant was a red one, and we also brought it inside for the winter. Had to keep it perched atop a freezer under a florescent light in the basement, other wise the cats would chew it. Oh and they sure tried to leap up to get at it too. We had it barricaded sort of so there was no place for their paws to land.
It is now out front this year, but so weird it has all lush dark leaves, tons of new shoots growing every which way and no flowers yet?? I finally saw some buds on it but much smaller.
