I don't think I could be so brave. I read Charlotte's Web and was perfectly okay with her being a spider until they got to the illustrations. It was a very detailed ink drawing and the book flew across the room. If I see any spider larger than a quarter outside, gardening comes to a halt and I go indoors. I would love gardening, if only it weren't for the creepie crawlies! Anything that moves super fast like centipedes, or those silverfish bugs, or the really gross huge brown spiders in the size where you can actually see either prominent eyes/hair/antennae on them is out of the question! I think the ones with really large bottoms are horrid as well.
My phobias go way back to my preschool days when my brother used to chase me around the house with a life-sized realistic model of a tarantula, day after day, until it ended in tears and panic. I'm still annoyed with him.
I was here to ask about a rose pest. It's a green caterpillar like bug that curls up when it rests. It's been chewing up any and all new growth on my hybrid tea rose. It's not an aphid, it's not rose borers, or thrips. Does anyone know what it is and how to get rid of it? I hesitate to use google images because it'll just fill my screen with bugs!

Bloody effing squirrels I had the perfect heart-shaped strawberry almost ready to be picked. I went out this morning to grab it and it was gone. Not a bird. Not a skunk. Not a raccoon. A squirrel took it. If I could only grab one and break it's little rodent neck I would string it up in the trees as a warning to all other neighborhood squirrels to steer clear of this yard. I hate you squirrels and all of your ugly rat-faced relatives.

I know the feeling!
I had a sunflower that I had started from seed and was so looking forward to seeing it grow -- but this darn squirrel broke or chewed off the stem!

I am so sorry I am trying not to laugh, as it is real frustrating when the critters get in your garden, but oh, how you described it, OK, it is cute!!!
Anyway, I solved that problem of the animals getting into my garden from the get go. My DH made a complete covering for for the garden and have had no issues what so ever, with the exception of the odd snail.
Good luck and hope the rest of your garden season is better.

I put the strawberries up on a table that they can't climb up to - so far so good. I might pop in to the Dollarama to see if they have any netting for the garden though. I'd rather have them on the ground. If a big gust of wind comes up then the whole works will topple over. I did mention that they were in a pot, right? I didn't dig them up from the ground and just plop them on the table

yesterday early evening I went out back searching the planters for any beans, snow peas, swiss chard and lettuce that might be ready for the taking.
Yikes! I was out there way longer than I wanted to be but managed to fill 2 x " cereal bags "
( those waxy liner bags ) to the brim with tender crispy baby lettuce, 14 oz of green beans, 3/4 cup snow peas ( I left most of them hanging to get bigger! ) and 4 cups swiss chard.
I'll bet they will be ready to go again in a few days....kinda neat! ( I sure appreciate DH green thumb )

Those succulent hens and chicks plants-two of the hens have bolted into almost two feet long things with flower buds/spores. Rather alien like. Hope the show ends soon.
Half of last year's parsley plants have gone to seed so I cut them down.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

We bought a Mandavilla bush? plant? at WM a while back ( I think it was about $15.00 ?) but oh it has bloomed like mad!! And it just keeps blooming more bright red flowers!! and the vines keep climbing and they have now hooked themselves around the Gazebo frame ( I guess that is now its permanent home ) .
Ours looks almost identical to this one
