@walkonby no, there is no meat in this dish. I am trying to get a few more vegetarian dishes in our regular dishes as sometimes I feel a little meat out, like right now I do not want to see beef for a bit.

The stew today will be a mix of Portobellos and Button Mushrooms as they are what I have on hand.

Not that there is anything wrong with all shrooms...I love 'em!!

I have never heard of this before. Sounds interesting. Going to watch for a sale on the Portobello's and give this a try

I was way to busy at work to have lunch today so i brought that home, way too good to waste. So i guess i am having left overs of my lunch which was left overs from last nights dinner which was back ribs. My wife made crock pot chili today so i will probably indulge in a bowl of that as well

We got 50+cm of snow yesterday, its a glorious, cold, sunny day on the Rock! Last night I cooked a beef roast and made mashed potatoes, gravy, veggies, etc in case we went to the cabin today (easy to reheat on the wood stove) but its -20 windchill & still a little blustery so it might be too cold to get the cabin warmed up today and everything done to be able to stay overnight (but definitely tomorrow!!) either way I can reheat the food at home or the cabin

Tonight I made a scalloped potato and ham casserole. One layer thinly sliced potatoes, topped with onions and a sprinkle of flour with salt & pepper, followed by a layer of diced ham, repeat, and top with a layer of thinly sliced potatoes. Dot liberally with butter. Fill the casserole with milk up to about 1/3 inch of the brim. And bake. I serve it with rolls and sliced cheese on the side.

my guys will be eating lots of chili over the weekend. Made up about a half a roast pan full this morning.
I get so much done between 5 a.m and 8 a.m. Some laundry, pets stuff and even watched 2 recorded shows!

    very interesting experiments today!
I picked up a t-fal Easy Fry XL fryer ( air fryer ) and thanks a lot " you know who " triggering my curiousity about yours!! ( @Lynn49 ) Call it Christmas Envy...ha ha
I sure have had some fun!
The best thing was sliced water chestnuts. Into a round cake pan they went along with my baby bok choy. I did not want the small pieces getting trapped in the insert and they say you can do this )
They tasted JUST like potato chips!! ( the water chestnuts ), also did other veg, my raw bean sprouts and snow peas. Mmmm.
I put totally frozen like a brick perogies in and in 12 min they were done! DS tasted and approved.
It is a very easy item to use and clean, it will be staying at the end of the the long kitchen table for now.
I showed the kids how to use it, they'll be experimenting too I suspect.
