Enjoying the reprieve from the cold temps here in Argentina. Arrived yesterday and went for a lovely dinner and evening walk out with my sister and BIL. Managed to stay awake until 8 p.m. which was the goal to get on their time zone-+4 hrs.

    Good Afternoon Everyone,
Yesterday got away from me, I was going to try to post but every time I started to type I got pulled away. Probably does not help that I am still having serious issues with focus.

Yesterday was a pretty good day until mid evening and then it went down hill hard and I guess it carried over as I woke up not feeling my best and honestly wanted to skip today. I forced myself to get up and come into the office. The morning has been a rough but I feel I am coming around a bit now.

When I get really angry I like to clean, but I mean like clean I want to scrub things. So last night I cleaned some of my kitchen cabinets, I did not get all of them done as my back and shoulders were hurting before I started and then well cleaning I started having Spasms but let me tell you the scrubbing made me feel better. I got:
The microwave over the stove cleaned
    The cabinet above the Microwave
All the lower cabinets under the sink (I got the ones above the sink done during Christmas Break)

Now I just need to do the pantry and the cabinet above the fridge. I would have liked to get the one above the fridge done last night but didn't feel safe to be the ladder once the Spasms started.

Question: How often do you scrub down your kitchen cabinets?

I also did some tidying up, I have come to realize I do not hate cleaning, actually kind of the opposite in some ways, give me spray cleaner and let me go and I am happy. But I hate tidying up, I hate trying to find a home for things and this is my issue is nothing in our house has a home. So when your trying to clean up you just move things from one place to another, it is like okay I am cleaning the coffee table but I have no idea what to do with these items so they just get moved to the dinning table, then you go to clean the dinning table and they get moved to the kitchen counter, there is no storage in our house. The issue here is all of our walls are cement so anything we buy for storage has to be free standing which increases the price. I have a unit I want to buy for our dinning room but the price tag has made me hold off.

With all of that being said I did get a few things taken off my to do list, although my to do list is ever changing as right now as soon as I see something it gets added. Last night I got 4 or 5 things done on my list but added 6 new items, kind of a never losing battle. But I am determined to get our house in working order so I can start a daily/week/monthly to do list because I have found lists are my friends.

I have also created a list of things I want to buy for the house but this list if currently on hold as we have a few things up in the air that need to get resolved before I spent any money right now. Right now it is just small stuff like:
We need a new carpet for our front hallway, the one we have the backing is falling off and making a mess, it almost looks like sand coming off
A broom, we only have those little hand brooms so you have to bend over to sweep and some areas of our house you just cannot use a swiffer
A big frying pan, we need to replace ours as it is no longer non stick, it has developed these funny marks I cannot scrub off and where the marks are food sticks the pan
I also want to look at hand held vacuums, we do not have carpet so we do not need a vacuum but I was thinking a hand held one would be nice for the furniture and also clean some of the hard to reach areas in the the kitchen and to get into those tight corners. We had one when I was little and I love it.

Alright well time to get back to work, have a wonderful Afternoon everyone.

I scrub the front of my cabinets once or twice a year. When I notice they are dirty and in need of some wiping. We have a cleaner again. It is my non-frugal act of self-love. She only does the floors in the kitchen. Lots of people do their cabinets monthly. I don't have time for that. My mother does her insides yearly. I do mine, again when I feel they need to be done. Often when I empty something and reorganize. They hold clean dishes...

I am the opposite of you, @SassyAshley . I like to organize, not in love with cleaning. We have baskets and bins hidden all over the house. Helps with things having a "home." With three kids and the two adults, our one almost daily task is the pick up where everything returns to the home. Socks kids have taken off their feet go to the laundy bin in each of their rooms, toys in the toy room, dishes and glasses to the dishwasher...etc. The nightly pick up means the home is organized for the cleaner when she comes in so I don't have to clean for the cleaner.

sassy -i clean the front of my cabinets maybe monthly as they are stained and I will ruin it if I keep cleaning ,or if they have drips on them

I took back my pantyhose to Walmart 6.70 awfull price ,then went to get my pictures out of shoppers in binbrook (I must say shoppers does nicer pictures than Walmart (if doing them from home)but the cashier rang in the reg price and I noticed it just as I went to go ,well then he couldn't void the bill I must have waited 15 minutes and I had to get Ashlyn from the bus at 3.00 what a pain.

Then stayed at son's house til daughter-in-law came home from work at 6.15 she brought me a mcdonalds wrap ,so a little tired now played Barbie and coloured with Ashlyn tonight

Had to go to casino to get comedy tickets for my bestie and her husband. I gambled a bit and won! Had a quick dinner (free comps that would expire Sunday so glad I used them up)
Tomorrow I plan on getting housework done, laundry, clean out fridge and meal plan before getting groceries.

@ greentires Sign up for players card and they give you offers each month. They use to mail food vouchers now they load the offers on the card ( with the coupons you could give then away which was nice. I would use my mom's when she was away South for months)

Of course I can sleep in this morning because DS switched his work shift and doesn't work till later but I am wide awake. Don't want to start laundry till the oldest leaves for work for 11. Maybe I will get up and do some running around before the storm hits.

Basically, casino loyalty programs require signing up, which is free and sometimes comes with minor freebies, then the comps you get depend on how much you gamble (money, not frequency or time).

Is the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tournament coming to your area (or has already been there)? There's a fine snow (not powder snow but really fine snowflakes) sugaring(think snowglobe!) Ancaster as of 8:50am (I was surprised that our lawn was bare overnight and and was bare when I got up after 8:30am). There's a strong hockey community in the Hamilton area, so I expect that many fans will give the tournament much love during their 12pm-6pm time today and tomorrow (along with the Sunday night hockey outdoor viewing).

The Hamilton Spectator's front page also has the tournament written up-well, the local statue has a hockey jersey on:

Someone in the City of Hamilton must have approved the apparel-usually one cannot put advertising on City municipal centre properties.

@SassyAshley I noticed that Bed Bath and Beyond carries an upright dustpan & broom set I'd love to add to the household stable of cleaning tools: https://www.bedbathandbeyond.ca/stor...word=oxo-broom
I'd have to check the store coupon for 20% off if it excludes Oxo items from discounts (many name brands are, like Dyson & Miele).
If you have a wooden/plastic broom handle with a screw end, you can find nylon bristle broom heads at a Walmart Supercentre. Our 30yr old+ broom head is a certain orange colour but Walmart does not have a similar shade. We have a couple of spare broom handles--they make handy reaching tools to turn on the overhead gas lever for the bbq when it's connected to the line.

Re: the frequency of cleaning kitchen cabinets-the door fronts (upper and lower) usually get eyeballed a couple of times per month (usually after I have finished washing dishes or something in the kitchen sink) as well as the sink window and surrounding tile (and grout) or nearby stove for reasons for me to put a soapy Vileda Scrunge (if stain has bulk) or regular small cellulose sponge to the drips/splatters/runaway food stains. I am always amazed how far tomato-based soups or products can splatter from the stove or sink. When I cleaned out the baking cupboard, I was miffed at how much spilled baking soda and extract stains were on the lowest of three shelves. So after cleaning the cupboard (washing/drying/winnowing things out), I put paper doilies (remember in summer my quest to locate various paper doiles at dollar stores and grocery stores I bought about 5 -6 packages of different sizes) on the bottom shelf, so if I see orange or lumpy stains on the doilies, I can take everything out, toss out the doilies and do a quick wipe up before putting in fresh doilies (which would otherwise just sit for weeks unused--but Mom will be needing some doilies next month).

Our dining room needs updated dining table (four legs, not the two legs' wobbliness of the 1990 set my late father bought-it's not terribly safe to saw something tough on a cutting board on that table due the wobble) and a couple of dining chairs with arms. I plan to see if Habitat for Humanity might have a gem (more recent era) in Hamilton just to get an idea of prices. I know the Mississauga store had 4-6 seat tables from the 1970s similar to what our family had prior to 1977. I used to want a new Pier 1 Imports table and chair set (late 2016) but the online website only indicated the product was stateside, not in Ontario stores.

morning -staying in and hunkering down -I don't think my daughter/her family will drive from Toronto today just to go out for super with his siblings (I haven't heard from her yet) so if she doesn't come I wont have to babysit .

ceil -thanks for the thrift updates in another section -I would love to go on sunday for 50% off ,but the past few times I have found it wayyyy to busy and crowded so I may just stick to seniors day on Tuesdays for 30% off

I found a lovely top on the gaps website this morning (a cowl neck) I use to wear those in the 70"s and it was on for 12.50 but of course by the time I found a few other items so not to pay shipping it was sold out .Maybe that's a good thing .

Concerning comps my dear older brother use to always tell us "I have a free show or a free room"and when my younger brother and I asked how much did you spend to get this ,he would just defer the answer to something else (only I was in my late teens then ) Fast forward many years later and his wife cant even tell me how much he has lost due to going to the casino's ,he is 74 this year and has gambled his whole life.It is a shame as he now could have used the money he spent (his health has declined and he still has a second chance limited life after last year).

Thursday mail-yay, my 2019 Income Tax package came in the mail. Boo-initially thought there was only one copy of the tax return but wait! The white paper somewhat stiffer copy is now 8 pages long (bigger font and some sections take up a separate page), and the line numbers go from hundreds to tens thousands. So instead of line 150, it's now 15000. There's a newsprint copy (guess it's your copy of the T1 return) later in the book, but only ONE copy of each Ontario form (even the back inside cover is part of a tax form but it's not perforated--you have been informed--unlike most of the forms which are perforated. So there will be photocopying needed to make one's own copy of schedules and tax or tax credit forms to keep when the forms get mailed in. I'd like to believe that my library's copier can be gentle on the two-sided (newsprint) tax forms through the top-loading form feeder (haha, Climate Change Initiative form, you will be my test paper) and I'll test the theory on Monday when I make my copies. Else I'll be stuck making single-sided copies of the forms, which will cost more than a $1 but hopefully not past $2 (at 10 cents per b&w copy).
Did some vegetable prep (carrots, celery) at night and set out some of the ingredients needed for the lentil stew Friday morning. Was pleased I had a few cans of Aylmer Accent diced tomatoes-set aside two of the garlic and olive oil tins.

Friday-had the chance to watch the Pokemon Detective Pikachu movie (a little amusing and the best thing for me was seeing the international mashup of three cities that make up Ryme City) with air-popped popcorn and some butter while other family was out on a long errand. Also raked some leaves that strayed onto the driveway, ran some laundry loads and ate lots of the curried lentil stew I had made in the morning. Now that I have the Method wood cleaner spray, I am wiping down the tables in the living room each week after vacuuming the carpet/furnishings. I did the same to my bed's headboard and the cleaner's almond smell was so delightful in my room--however, I kind of lost interest in organizing my stuff after the wipedown/vacuuming, so I just moved piles around. This scenario will have to come to an end very soon.

This morning-did a little shopping at Fortinos and Shoppers before returning 40 cents of containers at the beer store. Used a $1 off Ryvita coupon to add some crackers to the pantry. Have to see if I can get out to Longos today or tomorrow for a few things and check out Value Village for the upcoming 50% off clothing sale.
