June 2020 Frugal Chatter Thread

Decided I need easy for dinner tonight so I pulled a Homemade Meatloaf from the freezer which just needs to be put in the oven. I have some leftover Mashed Potatoes I will turn into a Mashed Potato bake and I have a bag of frozen Green Beans in the freezer I was to use up so I will toss those in the oven as well. There we have it, everything in the oven and dinner is done.

Pretty sure we will still get one more meal after tonight out of this bag of green beans, normally I am a fan of frozen Green Beans but this brand has proved to be a bit disappointing. I will be happy when this package is gone and we can switch the ones I got a Costco, they look much nicer. The Costco ones are in a clear bag so you see what you are getting vs the ones we have now which were in a white bag you cannot see through.

I’ve made $41 in garden sales over the last week.

Harvested more radishes today. We ate chicken veggie wraps for supper, along with 9 radishes from the garden.

My little tomato plants are surprising me with flowers already. I carefully weeded the big garden patch and planted additional carrots in the empty parts of the rows. I carefully added some to empty spots of my carrot rows. I also snuck some carrots into a couple blank sections of the beets and Swiss chard rows. I might find some other areas to plants carrots in.

@Ciel - I live near the cottages in Grimsby, ON. Kids love driving by them.

My updates:
1) Bought a birthday gift for my daughter from a buy and sell 50% off retail new in box. Shopkin's doll house.
2) Finished reports and have to go into school on Friday to pack up the room for deep cleaning over the summer...don't really understand that when classes haven't been running and the virus "dies" in 3 days...we don't normally do this. Happy to spend a day getting a computer break.
3) My mom has to go back to distancing from us because my sister is not comfortable and needs my mom for child care. Not gonna lie, disappointed. This too shall pass. Happy to have some contact on DH's side with his parents and sister.

Good Morning Everyone,
New day feeling better.

I am no longer double booked which is nice, I like being busy but it would have been difficult be in a meeting plus help process orders.

After I posted yesterday my anxiety was still high and I could not focus on work so instead I did more cleaning. The bathroom is clean but did not get the floors done as I needed to address something for work. I also moved some stuff around, just trying to find permanent not in the way homes for things. So I re arranged an area in our living room to put Mom's stool away, it has been living in front of our back door as she mainly uses it in the kitchen but now everytime we want to open our door it has be moved.

I had to work late last night so I did some work on our website.

I am hoping this afternoon I will get a chance to take a break as I am working until 8 pm tonight. So hopefully one person is supposed to be back in the office around Noon so hopefully I can take an hour this afternoon maybe prep dinner or something but something to step away from the computer.

I have to go to our production plant tomorrow but I think due to covid restrictions I am not going to take my laptop with me as I do not think I am allowed to set up in the boardroom. I do not mind working from home, I actually enjoy it but it would be nice for some restrictions to be lifted so if need be I could go into branch and do what needs to be done like set up my laptop to work.

Morning ,we will be watching the girls Ashlyn and Cara Monday and Tuesday as my daughter-in-law will be going back to work in july .Then she will get her mom for the other few days til she goes back to work .They are trying to get Ashlyn in a daycamp ,but may be not able too.

I know my daughter would love me to help her out ,but she is in Toronto .When we went for a visit ,we chose not to go out for a walk with Sebastian -only in his backyard .Its hard to work from home when my daughter has to write ,plus her hubby is working too -I feel for them .

I seen a garage sale on the way to my son's the other day ,I didn't think they would be allowed during covid .The people didn't look like they were distancing either.

I love the PC green beans! The ones that sell for $3.50 but go on sale for $1.88/$2

Good Morning! Loving this sunny week we are getting. Made sure to remember to water my pepper plants last night. Still the one in the pot is growing huge and the other 2 in the garden not so much. Will be interesting to see how they all do.

Tonight- Laundry and set up dining room as an efficient selling room. I am motivated to get all the crap out of the house over the next few months.

Water heater- I rent it (most do in Ontario) We have hard water in our town so it made sense. But the house I moved to 10 years ago I took on the water heater. I have had it serviced once (for free) I read about calling in and inquiring about buying it out and then they offer a credit . Did it and it was easy and the credit is on my bill this month. So thinking I will call to have them service it and ask about replacing the anode rod (apparently this should be done every 4-5 years). Then in 6 months I will call about buying it out again. They may offer another credit or I may just buy it out and take my chances. Its in the basement and I have a drain if it leaks so there really isn't an issue and then I can just replace it with a new one if needed. Something to think about.

A lovely start to the day - was up at 6 working in the front and back yards. Cleaned them up and watered all 19 veg pots. Replanted one jalapeno pepper as I think the soil did not drain and it was waterlogged. Shall see if it comes back. Hope so. Aside from that it will be a day of sitting on the porch and chillaxin' ... already watched the cardinals and robins bathing in the bird bath ... will need to refill it midday I think ... be well all!

Replanted one jalapeno pepper as I think the soil did not drain and it was waterlogged. Shall see if it comes back. Hope so. Twin boy impressed me this morning. He counted to 100 by 2’s, by himself. He already counts past 100 by 1’s. He also counts to 100 by 5’s. Both of our twins are quite interested in Math. They like practice their addition.
They both know the alphabet. They can match all of the upper and lower case letters. They can both spell about 10 words each.
Twin girl loves crafts and colouring. She also likes to practice printing and cutting. Twin boy doesn’t really like those activities.

My 3 veggie plants are lucky to see water lol Hope your 19 do well! Next year I will do the pot route (I have tons in the shed) Just was hard to find soil this year!!

I reused a majority of the soil from last year. Just topped it off with some fresh soil and manure. Worked it into the soil. So far so good. I have done it this way for years. I have to be careful not to overwater.

I am going to mend hubby's socks and a pair of pants of mine .Do any of you still mend with a needle and thread ?Just curious .

I drop off mending to my mom to keep her busy We don't really have much. A button here and there.

I do minor mending but I can admit my hand sewing is not nearly as good as using a sewing machine. But I think that is just because I was taught to use a sew a machine but never really taught how to hand sew.

I have a huge bag of small shampoo/cond/body wash/lotion from all my free stays. I have been collecting it to donate to the shelter. But then everything closed up. Hopefully I can donate soon.
