It has been a few weeks now and this annoying pain in my baby toe was persistent. I remember stepping on something in the basement in bare feet, figured it was a small piece of cat litter or something. WELL....I finally got this thing out! It looks like a teensy speck of glass! The photo doesn't show the reflective/shiny properties OR the pointed end, but they are there. Compared next to the size of the head of a Q-Tip, you'd never think it could cause as much pain with every step, but it did.
Adios shard of glass!

I just have to let this out....On May 31/23 I asked my mother's accountant to request a clearance certificate (it should take about 4 months to complete) from Revenue Canada. I have finally been able to get a Revenue Canada rep to assist me and lo and behold...there is nothing there! The accountant did not do it at all! So I have to start again..I am going to the lawyer this time..and wait again for 4-6 months. Sigh...will these ever be done???

I can understand your frustration--the same thing happened to us when dealing with a grandparent estate. My suggestion to you is to send an email to the accountant stating that you had asked for them to do so May 31/23 and that the CRA states they have nothing on file and could the accountant please forward the request sent to the CRA, for your records. I'd then forward whatever you get sent or not sent to the CRA--only because: 1. the CRA is also useless and loses things and 2. if it hasn't been sent it might be expedited..

This falls under First World problems.
No one to blame but myself, ( and my hips! lol) I returned home from a quickie outing to WM, the ATM and then Metro.
On the way back I turned into Timmie's!! Time to treat myself to a large coffee. I added $$ to DH Tim card first ( nice of me
), then headed home.
As I was turning around to sit down on the landing step in the living room ( trying to dig through my purse for receipts ) didn't my derriere ever so gently
bump my walker. ( yes, of course I had placed the darn cup on the seat )
I turned around to see it roll away hitting the chair....
my cup of coffee came splashing down, The entire contents onto the hardwood, some even went down the floor vent!

After the cleanup I couldn't bear to make a Tassimo or Keurig. Sigh....

I came in here to basically whine about the Blue Jays losing 2 games in a row. There was going to be a bawling meme....
and maybe some snarky comment.
Then I gave my head a shake and realized that Monday signified so much more. The last of the surviving hostages from Gaza were released and came home after 2 long years.
That was where my focus should have been.

grrr! WTF is going on with Freshco/Scene offers? AGAIN, I cannot login to load my Scene offers for today's new sales.
The same message pops up saying " there is an error in your card number ( there IS NOT!! ) , please try again ".
I am now on hold waiting for an actual person to speak to about why this is happening. Each week my offers are not even
that great and I normally only go for the ones pertaining to FreshCo.....sigh.

It was confirmed to me that the issue was from the Scene site itself. Many customers had phoned in.
I was told to save the receipt if I needed items from FreshCo, then eventually when I can my offers I
can phone them to get whatever points came in those offers if I purchased that item.

There was a simpler solution. As I drove passed FreshCo I flashed them the middle finger. ha ha ha.
Once back home with my NF and Metro groceries I was able to load my Scene offers with no problem.
Nothing there that was life changing as far as offers go.

It's been a minute since I've ranted so...........
An embarrassing amount of take out was eaten during my time in hospital by the guys AND even once I came home we did MORE.
The fridge contents had been totally ignored by my DS and DH. If a food isn't front and centre neither of them bend over to LOOK
on the lower shelves or at the back of the fridge.
To be fair, DH's back was and still isa total F-up so bending over was near impossible. Forgiveness there.
However, today I discovered at where else? the back of the fridge ( and nearly gagged! ) at a clear plastic
tub that held an entire cut fresh pineapple. It was every shade of blue and green and the odour was tough
to take as I drained the liquid out, tossed the contents into the food bin and rinsed out the container for recycle.
Back in the cold room was a liquefied whole zucchini! Thank god it had been on a hard plastic tray covered by
plastic wrap. Found a rotted bag of green beans and a fuzzy English cucumber. So yeah, my frugal side is crying
but I was not here and then when I was the mere thought of making meals was absent.
Today after cleaning up all the yucky stuff I forced myself to make a large cold pasta salad with that stuff they call
" Sea legs ". Personally I only love real crab legs but atm they are priced out of my league. Added lots of crunchy
diced veg, grated carrot, the zest of a lone lemon, shook lots of black pepper in and mayo. It was left to get very cold
and that will be dinner. Rant over...lol.

I'm so grateful to have post retirement medical and dental coverage. Same with having the Co-pay with DH's work.
After the processing of 2 big claims for myself I wondered how do those with NO insurance get by? I've known that
some of my in-laws never went a hygienist or got regular check ups. Some have had teeth pulled or they fell out from
gum disease.
Breaks my damn heart!
The government finally offered a dental plan to the public but it was almost too little too late for them.
So today when all the financial dust settled on my 2 claims, my knee jerk reaction was annoyance.
I must pay OOP costs after both Companies processed these claims.
With my new hearing aid ( a single one) I'm looking at an OOP of $964.00! That's includes both Insurance Companies
payments AND $500.00 that the government reimbursed me on it. Then with my route canal at the specialist my OOP
after processing is $426.40 .
I'll be listing both of these costs on my CRA tax return for medical/dental but something tells me it probably won't give
much of a deduction.
Again, I'm very grateful that I have the coverage, but argh!!!Last edited by walkonby; Thu, Jul 16th, 2026 at 11:58 AM.

@walkonby:
I feel and understand your situation.
My claim to get coverage by public was rejected due to a paper.
But I remade the claim and will receive the paper in 1 month.
Social Aid just offering coverage after 1 year.
So my teeths are in so bad shape....
I just hope to not have pain in this month....
The goal is to live day by day not to much thinking hahaha !!!!

I love to save money!!! Frugal life hahaah !!!
