Cool and gloomy all day, lots of rain - so I made a hearty casserole with ground beef, onions, chopped up roma tomatoes (husband bought them too ripe for sandwiches), green beans, peas, carrots, corn, all in a garlic mushroom sauce, served over tortiglioni.

Clean up the fridge leftovers with some freshly boiled noodles.
Tomorrow we are invited next door to their granddaughter's birthday party. The granddaughter is our son's age. Burgers, hotdogs, etc on the menu. There will also be a bouncy castle for the kids.Last edited by Angela273; Thu, Aug 4th, 2016 at 07:41 AM. Reason: Typo

It was such a great evening to bbq and then take a dip in the pool! I think I will be bringing home some marinated tandoori chicken legs, some tandoori marinated grouper and marinated Afghani chicken legs Thursday and bbq for the gang! Best excuse to go for a swim after, DW don't complain about doing the dishes since I cooked!

habs rule, enjoy your pool| I envy you! We took our pool down after 24 years; the motor seized and we needed a new liner so that was the end of the pool!
Tonight for dinner im making bbq chicken breast which looks the size of a turkey breast; baked potato; and garden salad.

Thanks SnowFlakey! Pool certainly is a lifesaver in this heat! I had to replace the motor this year and the liner I replaced last year. Always something with an in-ground pool and it is expected. I have to get a new cover as well for closing the pool and that will be another $3000 in a month or so. But the amount of pleasure you get from sitting around in the back yard and actually enjoying it far exceeds these costs!

Had some roasted ham pieces frozen, put them in a roaster along with potatoes and green beans, they are cooking in a beef broth with onions in the oven. Seems like it could be edible....
added - actually very yummy - left the lid off the last half hour, the potatoes soaked up all the broth.Last edited by Natalka; Thu, Aug 4th, 2016 at 08:06 PM.

KelJo, that sounds like lots of fun - and yum!
When my husband was on his way out the door going to work, I asked him if he'd mind doing some fishing on his way home.... well, it got a smile out of him, and he said sure.

We're having what my Dad used to call a cold supper. Macaroni & tuna salad, cole slaw, potato salad & bakery buns. Pretty simple dinner.
