Cheap ground beef at no frills last week

side note: I don't consider $3/lb "cheap" for ground beef...I think .99 cents/lb is "cheap" but this isn't 1996 after all

PLUS cheap green peppers at No Frills this week =

    stuffed green peppers!!

I don't know what else to put with it though? It's already got meat, carb,. and veggie all rolled in to one. What do you make with that??

    Suggestions?

More veg!! Roast some cauliflower, or fry some shrooms in a buttery pan! Or toss a salad maybe?

I am cooking the guys roasted cauliflower as I sit here!! They will take pan fired cod fillets and steamed rice with it for dinner at work.

We might have whole wheat wraps for supper tonight. I have all of the ingredients at home for it.

edit: I just remembered what I thought of last night. I am buying $1.99/lb roasting chicken from Sobeys today, so I am going to cook that this afternoon. It is cool here right now (compared to last week), so it is a great time to use the oven. I'll add white onion and a little carrot to the pan. We can have it with fresh boiled potatoes from my garden.

How do you roast your cauliflower? I have never done that.

Oh Angela I am still kind of new to it but they all love it here. I spray the cookie sheet with Pam liberally, sprinkle lots of seasonings right on top of the oil ( I use pepper, paprika, garlic and onion powder, celery seed, coriander and parsley) Then I slice a whole cauliflower into thick " steaks " . I cut it in a standing up holding the core on the bottom. Then the thickest slices stay together, but lots of bits fall away, that is fine, I waste nothing.

The outside green leafy stuff I trim away AFTER I have cut the steaks slices. I find it easier that way
Then lay the steaks and bits on the pan, repeat with a light spray of Pam on top, repeat seasonings on top. Roast at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes , then flip over and another 20 minutes.
I like most of my pieces to be dark and crispy...but because the steaks are cut thick like you still have a moist centre.

We're having an old standby in my house & by that I'm talking quiche,
Leave me in the kitchen & let the cook in me unleash,
I want to make my own crust, so please wish me a little luck,
Last time I tried to make one, it looked more like a bowl of muck,
Sometimes I make a ritz cracker quiche & it is pretty pleasing to plate,
& I also have done the bisquick one, but it didn't seem so great,
So along with a mandarin spinach salad, please let me get cracking,
Or should I opt for one of those days, where I do the dance of kitchen slacking?

I never thought of cutting it like that, will try next time!

I also saw a recipe recently for a low fat alfredo sauce made with cauliflower, which I haven't tried yet. Going to try to fool DS with it. http://pinchofyum.com/creamy-cauliflower-sauce

My DD and DH will not be home tonight. I will probably order a pizza for me and my DS.

RCSS had packages of plump juicy turkey thighs! Have to say I never saw any of these before, just the Henry V111 style drumsticks and the split breasts. Oven baked up 4 with gf crumb mixture/herbs. Four very large thighs were $10.00, so DH and DS grabbed a couple for their dinner tonight with Bush beans as a side. DD and I will graze. ??

Grrr... didn't have enough potatoes to make what I wanted for supper, so I had to really think...

Ended up making an alfredo sauce, added sauteed mushrooms and onions - to wagon wheel pasta and a can of tuna. It was yummy.
Served with a salad of lettuce, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, carrots, radishes, cucumber, mushrooms, and cut up hard boiled eggs, with a homemade sweet dressing.
