I got both my wiener dogs because when they got older they became biters of children. And both were raised around them, so not sure if this is only because they are purebred or not.
My Sonny is a chi / pom mix, he is the sweetest and loves everyone.

I would definitely do some research on the wiener mix though especially if it seems to be more doxie than chi.

I have breed dachshunds, and I did not have this problem at all! We keeps 6 as housepets ... all lived to be old (well, only one left us at 12) the rest lived to 14-16 years. So we've had dachsies around this house for over 20 years. Could have been the breeding, if there is inline breeding somewhere along the line you could have problems but this holds true for all animals (humans included)

See how the puppy reacts to you. I used to make my buyers sit on the floor and let the puppies loose. The pups usually picked the owner! lol and I made my buyers come back 3 xs to make sure it was a good match.

Sometimes pups are taken away from mom too soon and they don't learn to socialize properly. Id never dream of having a pup leave mom before 8-12 weeks.

Do you have standard or mini weiners? Maybe I should rephrase that before Aph gets the wrong idea.

I've only known a couple of standards & they were both, um, determined to take over the household. Their original job was to go out to the fields & hunt badgers while the lazy humans slept in & lounged around the house (just like my Lily dog has to do the housework, while I play on the computer). They seem to have the typical terrier personality - sweet, but give them an inch, they take a mile. Kinda like cats.

My wieners are small I have a mini and a mini toy. The smallest one rules the roost here and the others obey her. They really are the sweetest little poopers. And they love the heat. The smallest one hates the cold with a passion. They are real burrowers and every piece of furniture I own has blankets on it so they can bury themselves. They are the best bed warmers on the planet!

Mine were older when I got them, Muggins the toy mini was about 8 months, Willy was 18 months old. They were given up because they both starting biting kids. Don't know why they started. They are purebreds and I have all their original papers and lineage, there was no line breeding, but I don't know the circumstances of why they started to dislike kids. All I know is I got very lucky to be the recipent of these two little characters.

My 2 wieners do love people, as long as they are all adults. They love being picked up, petted and give crazy kisses to total strangers, but only full grown ones. Weird eh?

Problem is Tick, these dogs have "no history" meaning you don't really know what happened to them to make them dislike kids. Pets usually take to kids, unless ... while, kids will be kids. enuf said

Yes the kids did something to annoy the dogs, and as with any dog, young children and even adults, need to learn how to treat them. Any dog can bite if they are hurt or scared.

WTG winners! I really didn't contribute much didn't give it much thought but sweet of you.
Spent Saturday looking for a dining table haven't had one since Katrina and dh promised we'd get one with tax return well he didn't say he wasn't willing to pay for one just wants it given to us I guess! Found one I liked on sale for $299 just a basic table nothing fancy since I know how cheap he is well IT WAS TOO MUCH!@@@@ Asked him if he did not say we could get one, well yes he did but doesn't want to spend that much, told him then we'd better look for one in the newspaper that someone is selling or at the used furniture store but no he drug me around to all these places and of course we could not find one cheaper then that. Usually Big Lots has some for around $229 but they had no tables at this one. I'm so annoyed with him lol would like to just slug him. Hurt all over from being on crutches and he wasted my time. He did take me out to dinner and then he wanted to go to the lil casino for a bit. Was kind of fun there they had drawings every half hour for 2 $50 and then one at 9pm for $250. We won one of the $50 ones so it paid for most of the gambling and we were home by midnight. Really really paid for it Sunday tho woke up and could barely walk both hips legs and arms hurt especially those muscles in my chest you use when on crutches am a lil better today.
My friend is going to come stay for a couple days Wednesday, can't wait! We're going out for chinese one of the days and she wants to go look at RV's they are ready for a new one, thats what they live in as her husband works on the pipelines. We're going to do that Friday after my wound care appointment, will be nice for DH not to have to take me. Really excited she tries to come over or I go over there about once every 6 months. Met her on pogo and when ds was out of work a couple years ago she got him a job with her husband and at the time she worked on the pipeline too, really nice people. She spoiled him rotten and lol the brat was already rotten! She does the same with me though lol told her STOP mothering me lol your younger then me but she's just one of those very mothering people who loves to spoil those she cares about. Took me last time she was here for a manicure and pedicure I'd had manicures but was my first pedicure (loved it)! We had a lot of fun though.
Well off to try to catch up on facebook I have over 100 requests sheeesh got away from me quick and shoot forget my email i'm so far behind with that its scary, facebook is totally swamping me so have to try to fix it so they will quit telling me who has done something on my farm and every single thing that happens on facebook!

Oh lol Andit I always got the chocolate cake and so wanted something else. Mom would always say she fixed my favorite except lol I was never fond of chocolate cake now strawberry or lemon I loved but it was mom whose favorite cake was chocolate but every birthday lol thats what I'd get "My favorite cake"! Had my one and only birthday party when I was 10 years old was a lot of fun had most of the girls from my class mom couldn't stand not to invite them all and leave someone out thankfully tho for her sake several weren't able to come. lol was she NUTS inviting that many yeah she really was!
