There's a dog hotel in California called Wag hotels, that's similar, but houses dogs and cats. And they have full out rooms too, pretty sweet!

Depending on the critter, the fur actually acts like a barrier to the sun & keeps them cool. Sounds odd, but if you think about it, folks who do long treks through the desert on caravans are covered head to foot in light cotton, instead of stripping down to the bare minimum.
