Good morning, everyone. Dark & yucky here, so the critters are still in bed.
Are they teaching religious ed classes too? Or just singing hymns to the kids?
I went to Catholic school, but we had students of all sorts of religions - they were simply excluded from anything *religious*. Not so many in elementary school, but in HS, I remember quite a few girls who were included & excluded at the same time, if ya know what I mean (it was an all-girls school taught by nuns to boot!).
I have a good friend who's Muslim. She's an amazing musician & absolutely loves hymns. When she was about 10, her cranky aunt told her she was evil cause she started playing hymns on the piano - the religion aspect didn't mean anything to her, she just liked the tune. She still goes to mass with a friend of hers every so often, if only to listen to the hymns.

Well of course initially I was angry but that has passed into despair again. I thought that 9 years later I wouldn't have to deal with it.
The principal didn't know what athiests believe in.
I told her well I guess you have some reading to do. She even asked me how I was raised because I knew so much about other religions. I told her well freedom of religion means I am free to learn about all religions. That's why I know so much about other religions. "sigh" Doesn't mean I believe any of it but doesn't mean I can't learn what others believe.
Yup liguistic boards province wide, not sure what you mean about on the island or eastern townships because we are all secular, maybe you mean the different school boards? There are too many school boards, another can of worms LOL. The problem is that there are "spiritual and community advisors" this person has specific tasks but the EMSB is slack on getting religion out of the school because it's almost a "don't ask don't tell" type of thing. We were the first people to complain, ever. LOL Oh well caught ya! I did not make a big stink I only pointed out that we will be teaching her different things and that she will be told to tolerate their religion but our beliefs must also be respected. Kevin used to be told by the kids he would go to hell because he didn't believe. It's tough in the 1st few years of school because they are impressionable but once they reach a certain age they know better.
When my son got to high school and started the "ethics and religious culture course" he already knew more about the different religions than all his friends who are believers.

That's just insane!
The only one who came close to saying things like that was a senile priest we had at our parish when I was in elementary school, who bemoaned the fact that girls were allowed to mingle with boys & not sit separately in the back of the church, wearing gloves & headscarves.
The funny thing was he was tolerant of other religions, he was just a misogynist.
Watch, now I'm going straight to you-know-where for saying that.

Vee - knowing Doritos and their flavourings, I know I wouldn't be able to handle the heat...
Son brought home the new Cheesburger ones - they are pretty good.
I still love the old plain Zesty Cheese! I miss the Dill ones!

personally i always though it was a 'sign from god' when
my dad drove me to sunday school, and pulled a uturn,
without mentioning he was - i'd opened the door, hence
was on my back, (near a major intersection).
thinking it's the only time a doctor came to the house,
crap laughing at the silliness of this, still.

hopefully yea, no i didn't report it. it surprises me how some people think they can do this type of thing, and think what they are doing is legal. boggles the mind. i see keys being sold on ebay all the time, most are like this(from a Microsoft OEM dealer/small business Retailer), or technet etc keys that are given for free, or for a small fee.
