I hear you about things costing and the money not covering everything. Hope that your pending move goes smoothly-if at D's dad's home, there space for everyone and a way to ensure all get their turns at kitchen/livingroom/laundry room? Won't say much about tv-at our house it's most Dad or brother who have the remote. Mom sometimes does. I've 99% given up on tv except if I can watch a few minutes in am to see weather/some headlines. Will be accessing Internet from library probably as of Sat when it's disconnected at home.

Well, we can't blame our loss on "deflate-gate", I guess, lol...! And yes, next year! It certainly does take the anxiety off watching the Suoerbowl!

See if you can do some simple seeds at that property so BF's father can see some flowers in bloom or even salad greens-mixed or green leaf lettuce (easy to plant but get bitter by Aug. after some harvests. Someone told me that means putting in new lettuce seeds, not amending the container soil). It's nice knowing the weather is warming up when you see sprouts or leaf tips poking up! You'd both have a common topic of conversation.

I still have the long green and yellow/gold scarf I knitted for myself when we went to the game in Green Bay...sob...what a mess my poor Pack made of their last game...I couldn't even watch it sometimes, I was so nervous...looks like I had a right to be..

Container gardening has its merits. Yes, I agree with the fantasy aspect of enjoying garden seed catalogues and "what if I could" scenarios. I had a stacking plastic (3 tier type of thing like oversize strawberry pots) planter that I had flowers (nasturium, alyssum) growing in but they can only get so big. Herbs are easy for containers with right soil. Last summer, found out dirt I dug up when relevelling a walkway paver is more like clay than dirt! My three herb seeds failed to thrive except one tiny half-inch one that got up through a rupture in the soil. I dumped all of the container soil and seeds into a flower bed and planted something (tarragon?). Not sure if that is what grew later.

I use to go to the drug store and buy stationary called "Pallette Paper" (I think that was the name of it) and it came in many different colors. We always called it "Pretty Paper". I can't find stationary now or "Pretty Paper". Postcards are pretty much extinct as well. I use to collect them too

Letters are so wonderful, portable and worth reading again if from a person you care about. I used to like visiting the paper store and buy a box of nice stationery-usually 1/3 of the sheets were ripped up and binned because of errors.
Fortunate you have a childhood friend to this day! My bestie is from high school.

I have not been good with it this year. I occasionally send a card or short letter to my best friend. Mom has not been keeping with letters to her sibling because they talk on phone (aunt is overseas). But I love looking at the stamps on envelopes too. Picking out special ones to go with an occasion is also a fading skill.
