This was taken on jan 4; forgot about it until I went to clean out the camcorder/camera for my dad [he's going to the monster truck thing in toronto with my brother and nephew today].
I think it's a chickadee... ... gone inside one of the butchers bones that my dad threw outside fr the dogs and they torn the meat off... .. lol
My cat just wishing he could phase thru the glass

great pics & stories! evilkitten, that bird in the bone is great with your cat watching on. I haven't snapped any winter photos but here's one of the few black-capped chickadees who were regulars at our feeder in the summer...

Borrowed from a Friend
A Different Cardinal
This cardinal has been spotted in Rock Island, both by my father at his bird feeder, and by Mr. Bob Motz, a retired biologist who also lives in RI near Blackhawk State Park. A biologist at WIU had a name for it, but I can't remember what he called it. It is pretty rare, and they may try to capture it and get a DNA sample. Kind of interesting.
Rock Island Ill is across the river from where I live.

Just my budgie and the black birds that have taken over our tree. We also have a pair of morning doves that sit on the feeder and give sad eyes because there was no food.
One by one, the penguins slowly steal my sanity

thanks so much for sharing that, bluerose, I love live birdcams! I didn't know that one existed and had only been following cornell's cams... http://watch.birds.cornell.edu/nestcams/camera/index the eagle cam is great! it's so interesting and the sound, as you said, so peaceful.

I have no seed feeders but we have 2 hummingbird feeders by our livingroom window, we watch them daily...we also have hawks, eagles, and sometimes owls living in our back yard, and in the summer, we get to watch some blue herons fly over every night around dinner time when the go home to nest at night.

We had a pair of wood ducks here today and we are hoping they will nest in the duck box. The male is so pretty and it is cool that they nest in tree cavities and boxes. Bob and Doug ( a pair on Canada geese eh, ) come and eat at our feeder a couple times a day. I love to watch birds ,they are so interesting.
