I have been on treatment for anxiety and depression for 2 years now, and it is difficult for people to understand.
IF you try to share the fact that you are being treated for depression people usually say, but you are the happiest most carefree person I know.....
sure I am....when you see me and I have my smiley face on,.
but when I am at home and cant make a decision on what to eat, I don't remember to feed the kids, I am listening to my hubby complain about my lack of sex drive, I don't clean the house for days (weeks) on end, well those parts kinda tell a different story.
And to top it all off....I have had vertigo and dizzy spells and have been off work since Sept. and my depression and anxiety symptoms have lessened dramatically! I am to the point of quitting my full time job of 18 years in this uncertain economy rather than face feeling crappy and going to work.
I am going for testing on Friday at University Hospital in London on Fri to see if they can determine the cause of my vertigo and dizziness, because it could be caused by my meds, which would open a whole new can of worms for me because I don't know how I would function about my meds.
I am sorry to hijack this thread, I know its not about me. but Ya, every day can be a struggle and some days are worse than others, but every night when you go to bed, you have to try and think, hey I got through that day, I can get through tomorrow too!

holy be gerbeers, julie, lots of us, (hey you all know it)
relate to you.
once upon a time (sorry for the bed time story aspect)
i broke someones heart blah blah, and was on
anti anxiety, anti depression meds too.
i know this is not the norm - but i don't take that stuff
anymore.
it is quite possible that you have side affects from the meds,
(yikes - when you see commercials - antismoking ones can
cause suicide - that sort of yikes)
good idea 1 - don't quit your job.
gi 2 - feed the darn kids
gi 3 - don't have sex, geeee
gi 4 - cleaning the house - YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING
gi 5 - get though tomorrow etc.
hey with any luck, you're my friend, julie

I am on anxiety a med because I suffer anxiety attacks....they are horrible....I am sure some have experienced them...honestly....I would rather suffer a migraine then ever have another attack.
FYI-depression and anxiey attacks are common in woman who are in any of the stages of menopause...so if you have mood swings...and are happy one minute and crying the next...it is not you..it's your hormones outta wack.Thank You SC'rs for all the contests/samples/freebies, etc. that you post.

WandaJean - that's a great point to make. I didn't have depression, but serious mood swings in my late 30s - it was a combo of perimenopause coupled with my PCOS - so it was purely hormonal.
