Good morning every1. T.G.I.F.

I too expect Lynn is sleeping, & on some heavy duty pain meds.
R. & R. & R. (rest, relaxation, & recuperation) is what she needs most, and we're all thinking about her.

Thanks 22hicks, no my family is from up north, I was born and raised there so DH and I go up when we can usually for long weekends but this time we will be there for almost a week, then back to Toronto to enjoy a few days here before we go back to work. We are going to take our niece to wonderland.

In case I can't get back on today, I hope you all have a wonderful afternoon & evening.
In a couple of hours, I'm taking Jake to the sitters, then catching a train downtown.
My son's taking me out for dinner & then to the Jays game. He took me out for dinner on Mother's Day, & this was his gift. Haven't seen him since then, so really looking forward to it.

I got a call from Lynn about 1/2 hr. ago. She DID stay overnight and is now home. She's glad to be home and everything went well. I'm sure she'll update us here soon. She was feeling like she needed some rest. Her incision from last year was duplicated - so she has many many staples which she will have removed within 2 weeks. She says she can get around on crutches. Whew! Hugs to you, Lynn! We were all thinking about you.

If ur talking to her again, tell her to take her time, & when she's up to it, we'll still be here.

avon, thanks so much for letting us know.
Well, I had a few hours' sleep and now just getting back into things.
For the moment, puter is working fine - however, sadly, I know it won't last, it just gives me hope - then goes back to the sad stuff...

oh yes! Avon I just opened a pm that she had sent a couple hours ago, thanks for letting everyone here know that Lynn is going to need some time to recover from this. We figured they had kept her overnight. Not sure about anyone else but I let out a big sigh of relief knowing her surgery is over and she just needs to focus on the recovery now. ( and removing those awful staples, yikes! )

Aw, shucks, you guys.....
....I just woke up! Again!
First of all, thank you all for your PMs, your kind thoughts and prayers; I believe in the power of prayer and healing thoughts and I thank you all so very much.
Well, it was an ordeal, alright!
When I was taken into the operating room (don't you just hate the look of those things?!), I got onto the operating table, and a very handsome young anesthetist started hooking me up on one side for the needle, and a nice nurse hooked my other arm up into a pressure cuff and we were all being very chatty, until my doctor looked at a monitor and threw her hands way up in the air and said, "You set the blood pressure record of the day!"...and I was feeling very proud of myself for being so relaxed, until she said, "200!!!"
Okay, so maybe I wasn't so relaxed after-all....the nurse patted my hand and said, "Oh, you are nervous and I thought you were so relaxed about it all...!"...I told her that when I'm nervous I get chatty and I guess that's what happened. I don't remember anything else until I woke up in recovery several hours later. When I was out of recovery and in a room, my hubby brought me a juice and muffin and let's just say that didn't work very well and I was sick from then on into the next couple of hours. That never happened to me in my last 2 surgeries, so maybe I was a tad nervous, or he didn't give me enough anti-nausea medication. But he was cute anyway.
So my surgeon ripped open my last scar of about 12" long, yanked out the screws and popped out the plate, did a bunch of scraping around with a scope, and sent me on my way. And it hurts. Not as much of course as when it was broken, but jeepers, that gal loves her staple-gun and I told her so this morning! She agreed.
I was hoping for sutures, preferable dissolving ones, but apparently with a cut that deep, staples are in order and omg, they so hurt coming out!
I woke up this morning at around 6am, and a very nice, chirpy nurse brought me a hot coffee and muffin, I got washed up and waited for breakfast. Staying in hospitals, it seems, time is measured by how long it'll be until the next meal. I read the rest of the Toronto Star my hubby brought me the evening before, had a great night's sleep, breakfast came, I received instructions on the care of me and my incision...like I needed that...just repeat last year! But everyone was so nice, I got wheeled to our van, got home, hubby got my drugs from the pharmacy, prepared a charcuterie for lunch and I went to sleep the afternoon away, but thank goodness I woke up in time to hear Obama's eulogy at the funeral this afternoon...did anyone else see that?! Wow! Powerful and so moving!!
So, 1 1/2 weeks from now I'll get my staples out and be back into physio! I can walk with my new set of crutches (like Mother, like Daughter), and am allowed to put as much weight on that leg as I can tolerate. Honestly...it's shot full of 9 screw holes! How sturdy can it be?! She reassured me (again) that it was fine, so here I am, happily at home on a sunny day, having napped with Jenny all afternoon! And preparing to go camping with everyone on Canada Day!!
Thank you all again so much....I thought of so many of you as I went into the operating room, those who said they'd be there with me and although it may have been a little crowded, I do appreciate that you all let my surgeon do her job without nudging her too much.
Tomorrow is our 45th wedding anniversary...I wonder where he'll take me for dinner? See? Everything revolves around food!!
Right, Walks?
Avon, thank you for posting that I'm okay...just a little ditzy...I mean, dizzy, nauseated, tired and sore, is all....
Again....blessings to you all!!!Last edited by Lynn49; Fri, Jun 26th, 2015 at 04:26 PM.

Wowsers, you have been through a lot - glad you came through it all fine in the end.
Now just rest, rest, rest - catch up on reading, tv, movies, and family time - whatever makes you happy!

Lynn!!! So glad you were able to post so soon. Is anyone else like me? I mean when I read or hear descriptive surgical details I get real inside shudders on both legs. It was good i was sitting reading about it. Feels like I am being zapped with a mild shock. Explains how helpful I was ( NOT! ) when any of my kids got hurt, I was so afraid to really look at their injury site.
Never mind that now, have a wonderful and Happy 45th Anniversary ( tomorrow ) and I see you are not going to miss out on any summertime fun starting with camping over Canada Day, crutches and all!

Lynn, it's so nice to hear from you so soon. Wow, you have been put through the mill, but it sounds like you've come out in pretty good shape. We were all pulling for you, and a successful outcome. Looks like you pulled it off, but a B.P. of over 200 - I guess you were just a little nervous. Sleep well, and get better.
I'd like to wish you & your hubby a very Happy 45th Anniversary tomorrow. Enjoy the dinner.

On a completely different note, I had a wonderful dinner with my son, and the Jays game was great. We won 12 - 2. But, home and ready for bed. Night all.

Happy Caturday!
Well, it's 4 a.m. and I kinda napped in the evening, so I've been up all night.
Going to just head to bed now, see if I can sleep while it's still relatively not so hot - these days of 30s are just too much for me. I was meant to be where the a/c is on full blast!
Hope everyone has a great day!
