^ Careful on the roads; we'll just be getting bits of more snow.
First batch of paska Easter bread in the breadmaker at 4 a.m. - not much sleep, but I have lots to do. It's nice to have the machine do the kneading, but then I have to do the shaping and make the decorations for the top of the breads. Plus, it only makes a loaf and a bit at once, so it takes multiple batches.
It's a contemplating Thursday...

Good morning folks!
We escaped the "freezing" part but it's supposed to be a "soaking" rain all afternoon and evening.
I have been up all night with a sick doggie. Awoke to him "pleading" to go outside at 2:30. Then our poor freshly cleaned carpets got several stains from his poor belly. I spent the rest of the night on the lazy-boy with him on my lap. I made him some chamomile tea with rice to calm his tummy. It has worked before but not this time, poor thing!
He has a habit of eating goose poop when I am not watching when we go for walks around the pond. Too bad he can't put 2 and 2 together and stop doing that!! Yuckity-yuck!
Sorry about the topic after that lovely post from Natalka !
I am going to try to catch a few more zzzzz' s.

Good morning everyone!!
Busy times for all of us, evidently, with Easter preps to make...at least us women-folk!!
Guys: beer and wine runs?
Did you grocery shopping for DD's pink and black birthday dinner tomorrow evening, some prep work to do later today after painting class, then lots to do tomorrow. Saturday another dessert to prepare for Easter dinner at the DD's in-laws, so that'll be nice and relaxing; it's always fun to get together.
On a more sombre note, I just ordered a vase of flowers to be delivered to my late cousin's wife in ThunderBay today...the memorial service is on Tuesday, so I'll keep a candle lit here in his sweet memory. He was like the big brother I never had....
Natalka, don't you just adore a breadmaker for kneading everything together?! Best invention ever in the kitchen!! Well...for breads, anyway. I'm just going to make nice poofy dinner rolls tomorrow's b'day dinner; I just love how they turn out. Enjoy your Paska!! Omg...I remember my Mom at times like this...so many Paska loaves joined by tons of cinnamon buns tipped out on a sheet on her bed to cool....if Heaven is scented like that, I'm never leaving!!
For everyone down south, stay safe in that ice-storm many of you are having; we're expecting a huge snow dump some time this afternoon. It may be an interesting drive home from painting class!
Take good care, everyone...stay safe!

Well, puppy is at the vet being hydrated intravenously. He has pancreatitis. They scared the devil out of me because his ex-Ray was preliminary being interpreted that he had an enlarged heart, fluid around his heart and had potentially injested a foreign body. After blood tests, a - second opinion from a radiologist - the conclusion so far is - an inflamed pancreas. They are, of course, closed tomorrow so we have to hope the fluids and pain meds will calm his system down.
I was feeling good that our monthly budget was showing a savings. That was before today. This was not our regular vet - a new lady. I think it would have been an easier ride with our regular vet who doesn't work at this clinic on Thursdays.
Well, I have been holding DH's hand as he got to sleep. Not a good day for him, either. Got to get my "boys" feeling better. I need to get going and pick up meds as stores will be closed tomorrow.
Good luck to all those who plan to travel this weekend. I know that Kitchener area schools were all closed today - too icy!

Aw, Avon, poor Jesse....I have no idea what causes pancreatitis, but I sure do hope the hydration works wonders for the little critter and he's back to normal very soon. As for your other patient, I simply pray for better days ahead....you two are always in my thoughts and prayers and always close to my heart....
Well painting class went well: our lesson today was painting snow. Now as some of you may know, snow ... or as I like to call it, "white crap", isn't one of my favourite things and not suitable subject matter for any of my paintings. EVER. So I had fun with it and messed about, and since it's my last class until September, we all had fun. I'm going to miss the gang, but my teacher and one other gal have paintings in the Art Show in April so hopefully I'll see them there.
I'm off to bake the two layer cake for DD's b'day tomorrow, stuff them into the fridge so that I can frost them tomorrow...wrap presents...perhaps prepare the mashed potato/onion roll ready for slicing, crumb-coating and baking tomorrow...
As for this weather, gosh, everyone drive very slowly, take care walking and get home safely.
Btw...where has 22hicks been hiding lately?? I hope she's okay......Hicks? Check in please...
Toodles, everyone!

Wow, Lynn - you are so busy!
Second batch of paska is almost done the first rise, and will be ready to shape and decorate soon. From the first set, I made one big round, and then just a 'taster' little one - seemed to me it needed more salt. My decorations also pulled away a bit, so that was a bit frustrating.
From this batch, I need to make one perfect small one so it fits nicely in the basket to go for blessing at the church, then there should be enough dough to make a medium one.
My son says one of the things he misses most about living here, is when he'd come home from school and his bed would smell like bread - since the Babkas are cylinders, you need to put them on pillows and comforters, and turn them as they cool so they stay rounded - and I would always use his bed.
avon - sorry about your dog, hope all the help he gets makes him get well soon.
Your husband is very lucky to have such a wonderful wife - and I keep him in my prayers as he goes through all of this.
My BIL has just done his 11th round of chemo, and he's luckily faring quite well. Aside from that, he's been seeing my niece, who is a Dr. of Chinese medicine - and he's been getting acupuncture, and taking some supplements (not sure if herbs, or what).
Oh, my machine just beeped, time to get to work!

awww, you ladies are amazing... every one of you! I bought 2 silly decorations and stuck them in my front window, and THAT is the extent of my Easter efforts. I know I'll be cooking " something " on Sunday for the 6 of us ( yikes! I mean the other 2 are already invited! ) but I just cannot get my head into the right space as far as a menu goes. Freezer(s) and stockpile and cupboards are filled with possibilities but..... I think it is the cleaning I want help with. Until that happens I am feeling overwhelmed.
Good news is the pool is open all 4 days!! I thought for sure Good Friday/Easter Sunday they would be closed, but nope! At least I can still do that for some energy!
