Actually it is funny you mention this as my local Wal-Mart actually does this too on select products (most make-up and pharmacy items).

I'm guessing that the customer was doing the return without a receipt therefore the cashier would have been unaware that they were purchased using coupons. Again, that's what I'm guessing.

My DD (she's 2) loves tylenol and if she gets some, she usually asks for more! Once she was sick in bed and said 'A little bit of tylenol Mamma?' lol

Sad thing is that they likely used photocopied coupons too so Walmart won't get reimbursed for those. How else would you get 50+ of the same coupon?! I really hope Walmart didn't allow them to do the return!

It actually wouldn't be that hard. They don't verify the email addres so you'd just have to register 25 accounts.

I think their policy is to accept returns with a receipt within 60 days. I'm pretty sure I remember reading somewhere that if a coupon was used they still reimburse the customer for it because they will be compensated for the coupon anyways. Not sure if they do it in GC or original payment form. I don't think they *have* to accept a return without a receipt. *I think* they do it at their discretion, and you can only do it so many times per year, and show ID, if proper protocol was being followed. (based on experience, and some employee info)

The manufacturers might crack down on stores when they issue payments for the coupons and claims for returns in massive amounts for the same thing they issued coupons for, which will ruin it for us non-abusers, but if the original coupon accepted towards the item was valid, not photocopied and not used inappropriately (more than one per transaction if the wording limited it's use) then there isn't a whole lot WM can do, even if they know people are being dishonest and they can't prove it.

Personally, if I was a Manager and the items being returned in massive amounts were not from my store, I would call the original store to make sure nothing fraudulent happened with coupons for that product at their store recently, or in general, and if it was, I'd see if there was a way to find the transaction it happened in. If they showed up without a receipt to return some massive amount of anything, I'd insist on a receipt.

In fact, I almost want to write a letter to WM and tell them to do this, if they aren't already... then the rest of us don't look bad!

I bought 3 tylenol and 1 Motrin, have 4 kids and my husband was like, why you bought so many. Some people made couponing a money maker and alternate of job by these cheap means, but they are also causing troubles for people like us who are doing coupaning honestly just to save some money.

I think to myself,....who the heck brought them all in one day.....wooo, given that WM location is not busy, mostly dead on weekdays.....I got 4 on this deal, 2 infant and 2 children and already thought that was too many already for 2 kids, they do have an expiry date on them.

Thats also a reason that I always respected the cashiars opinion as think he/she is only doing their job, if not agreed just leave that stuff their, don't want to put them in trouble and I feel if some of them showed rude or stateforward behaviour (specially for print out coupons) there is some contribution of those greedy dishonest people too.

It's because of the Tylenol Ladies.

I've actually seen stickers like this at my local safeway! Mostly in the pharmacy section.. so needless to say, I guess this isn't the first time people have 'abused' the return-system. (Stickers state the store #, and if found at any other store, to report it)

Sadly there are people who use coupons for profit, which only makes it harder for those who are trying to follow the rules and use this to save money not make money.
This whole situation is kind of sad. I just coupon to save some money... I follow the rules. I hope manufacturers understand that this is not indicative of all people who use coupons.

I also hope other couponers understand that this is why stores are being so strict with checking coupons. I don't feel that this woman should have been allowed to purchase that many in the first place.... I hope Walmart wises up, and starts putting limits on some of their sales items.
