Here's the word from head office re: stacking:
Thank you for your inquiry regarding our coupon policy about the stacking of coupons.
We appreciate the opportunity to respond. Please note that our coupon stacking policy is as mentioned below;
1. Canada Safeway does not allow a customer to redeem two or more manufacturer coupons against the same item in a single transaction.
2. Coupon stacking policies for manufacturer coupons apply to paper and electronic coupons that have been loaded to a club card.
3. If a customer presents two coupons for the same item in a single transaction, Safeway will give the highest discount for that item, subject to the terms of the applicable offer and/or coupon.
Now, I just have to remember how to pre-load my Club Card. Have done it in the past but so long ago I can't remember the sites to go to.

Here's the site:
http://www.safeway.com/IFL/Grocery/Coupons
I never bothered with it much as it's US and there doesn't seem to be a corresponding Canadian site, however, judging by the response to the email which I sent to Safeway Canada it might work. I know my Club Card works in the US.

That's not the way I'm reading it. It seems to me that rules 2 and 3 only reinforce rule 1... Safeway does not allow a customer to use 2 or more coupons on 1 product, regardless of whether they're electronic or paper. If you preloaded a $2 coupon, then presented a $3 paper coupon in store for the same item, they would give you the higher discount ($3.00) and your electronic coupon would not be used.
Thanks for the link, though. It let me register with my postal code and I loaded a few coupons. It will be interesting to see if they work!

BW: Best Western Hotel Gift Cards
If you decide to buy them now use the search function and type in:
Best Western Travel Card
They are still at $0.133/AM vs. the new rate on the other cards of $0.114/AM.
One good thing is the new rate of $0.104 on the CARA GC will have been adjusted up to $0.114 I suppose.
Also, at least they indicated they have to pay more to buy GCs now. I assume they got a bulk rate discount before.

Thanks guys. I bought 3 BW GC's today. Since I will be buying them anyway it was a great time now to do it to save some AM's. So thanks again for the heads up.

Luckily, I'm married to an engineer who loves math as much as I do . Our children might be doomed...
I'm not overly impressed with the GC changes...like the Pharma Plus card that went from $0.143 per AM to $0.113 ... That's crazy! Oh well, I guess that just means the deals at Safeway will have to be better in order for them to get my money!

My submission:
Recently AirMiles Canada upped the conversion rate on Gift Cards in some instances by over 50%. Due to some backlash AirMiles Canada has now done an across the board reevaluation of conversion rates for gift cards that amounts to a 21% increase. (Previous average GC rate $0.138/AM vs. new rate $0.114).
While I cannot speak to any increased costs AirMiles Canada is facing that justifies a 21% increase I do know that Safeway will lose considerable advantage and in my own case will cause me to look at your competitors to be my principal source for groceries.
