That's what I`m sayin'
Unfortunately my beefstake tomato area is a 10x10ft patio. My best defense is bear mace. I didn`t have much of a green thumb, anyway.

i do agree with you(and wouldn't dare ask who you voted for or plan to vote for)... i just see it that people shouldn't just vote because that's what they are told to do.. with knowing nothing about who or what they are voting for(a tiny bit of education goes a long way).. it's not who they vote for (they can happily vote for any party) as long as they know what they are voting for (what changes they plan to make, what the party stands for) and not just standing behind the screen closing their eyes and Xing off any box because someone told them that a specific person is going to win so vote for them
a minor example.. in my district one of the main candidates dropped out of the riding but was still on the ballot... she still got many votes even though she was no longer running so it does help knowing who you are voting forLast edited by Midnightly; Tue, Oct 20th, 2015 at 11:21 PM.

AFAIK tobacco is legal to grow and I know 0 people who have ever even attempted it. I would think that it's because growing tobacco and then processing it to smoke takes a fair amount of work. It's easier just to hand the cashier at the gas station some money.
I assume the same for marijuana? I haven't ever used it so I'm only going off of secondhand information here, but it sounds like 'backyard' grow-ops make crap weed. I assume what makes it good or bad is its' strain and also the way it was grown. Just like the pumpkins in my backyard aren't even the size of a basketball and 'professional' growers with controlled climates and plant food and scheduled waterings can grow 130 lb ones, I would think that backyard growers who do not invest in a pretty solid (and expensive) setup will see unsatisfactory results and just go buy it instead because it'll cost less that way and it's nowhere near the hassle.
I really don't think it's going to be a problem. People don't really like to do stuff from scratch when it's easier, cheaper, and nowhere near as time-consuming to just buy it. People could grow their own tobacco, but they don't. I see this being the same way if all they have to do is walk into a store to get their pick of dozens of products. All they have to do is put it under the same umbrella as tobacco and alcohol and apply all the same rules and it should be fine.
Personally I'm pretty excited about legalization and regulation of marijuana. I read that taxes from cigarettes brought in around 700 mil in a year, can you imagine the amount of sales tax we're missing out on because it's not currently legal? Another 700 mil from the sale of this per year in taxes could build hospitals, improve schools and roadways, and actually help families. It's missed money right now that is sitting in the pockets of some low-level dealers instead of building low-income housing or funding school programs.
Not to mention how much money and resources we'll save in the long run on housing prisoners who are in because of nonviolent pot offenses and how much police time would be saved if they weren't called for MJ related stuff ever again.
On top of that, how many people with medical conditions (from cancer to anxiety) could be helped with something natural instead of a chemical concoction made by big pharma that causes more side effects than it fixes! I would happily try an 'edible' to see if it would help with my depression but I will not touch pills.

No, you can do that if you want to. Everyone is entitled to do whatever they want with their vote - some choose not to exercise it at all, some choose to educate themselves about the party platforms and vote for the one they feel will be best for them/the country/their pets/their vintage garbage can lid collection/whatever, and now I've discovered that some choose to vote so they can claim to be on the "winning side" after the results are in. I guess I just didn't expect her to vote without knowing how it would impact her.
Here's just one example of what I mean: She works for the company I'm about to retire from. She is a recent university grad and is earning very close to $200K annually (and spends every cent on clothes, fun, and travel but hey she's young and lives at home and her parents are fine with it so it's not hurting anyone). However, this means that within a year, she will be earning more than $200K and that will put her smack dab into the income group that our new PM intends to tax at a higher rate, as they are what he refers to as the "1%".
Now, I have no objection if she wants to pay higher taxes to help support this great country of ours. But I do wonder if she will object to it and how she will feel when she finds out she supported it. I would love to be a fly on the wall for that discussion!
P.S. Just in case anyone gets the wrong idea, I myself earn nothing close to what she does...I didn't spend the years at school she did and I'm just a basic worker bee at the company. She got a degree in a high-demand field and is definitely reaping the rewards. Oh, if only I knew then what I know now!

I am so upset! We did a lot of moving things in the yard/pasture/garage. Moving tractor, snowmobiles, cars(4). Just basically getting the place ready for winter. But in doing so, I lost my keys. I have my SUV, house and mail keys on that chain! All can be replaced but they are on my LV pouch and that sucker was $400.00!
Just call me Wolfie

We saw on a news show and they were at a university and they were asking students if they were going to vote? This young man said no... Because no has shown him how to vote and he doesn't know how...and... He wasn't going to vote because no one told him who to vote for!
Umm you are in university...you should be able to do a wee bit of research on candidate platforms and how hard is it to vote? Go to the polling station...I am sure they will explain it to you...hmmm you put an x beside the candidate you are voting for. Scary. Mom and dad must be so proud!
