Would your youngest drink a smoothie? Both my kids love them and consider them a "treat" lol

She'll drink a smoothie(she thinks they're milkshakes lol and we'll use frozen fruit in them)but prefers fresh berries/peppers/carrots for snacks. There's worse she could be eating so I won't complain too much(however I do think it's rediculous that I can feed a family of 4 a meal of "crap" for less than a container of strawberries).

Hmmmm...I bet it's not any better in Comox either, as most things have to brought onto the Island

comox would be just the same... (and many hours drive)

there's a no frills in port alberni but that's 3ish hour drive away and not worth the trip to grocery shop (though not against stopping in if i'm passing through but i'm only in the area when visiting fam every couple of months)

Yeah...but Timmies is "to big to fail". You go in there and it's like an extension of some people's living room, or a place to meet for folks from the boonies with their trucks and bikes

It's always different ones. I've noticed it in other cities too. If I was a big company like Tim Hortons I'd be ashamed to serve stale timbits to customers. Thats disgusting, who knew how old they were??

^whether you like or dislike the food at Timmies--you're right it is a place for folks to meet. nothing wrong with that. people from the outskirts of town nothing wrong with them either. trucks and bikes, same. meeting socially at Tim's that is what people do.

DH was supposed to leave for work on Jan 4th, booked his flights, packed bags blah,blah And then last night he gets a call from one of the company guys saying that he has been moved back to the 25th. And that 5 more guys have been laid off. Now guys that have only worked office jobs are being moved out to the field jobs. Men that have never worked on a physical oil rig are going to be taking over the jobs of men who have worked rigs all their lives. Things are looking scary for us.

Mate...I am with you on that. It seems to me here that people will rather entertain folks at Tim's than their house for some bizarre reason.

I don't lose sleep over it, and nobody should take my posts personally. I don't know you, you don't know me....period. However, one thing I don't do is pretend, or strive to be part of a clan. The old "misery loves company" is not my style
