I do all my prescriptions at an independent pharmacist. They call me the second something is up for renewal and they deal with my doctors directly to get any repeats so I don't have to go for an appointment just for that. Then they call when my prescription is ready for pickup, and they offer free delivery (but they are only a few blocks away so...) They really make the experience painless. I don't have to keep track of anything: they are my nanny.
I pay $10 more a month in fees vs. cheapest option elsewhere, but for someone to track 5 meds that all renew at different times in the month...totally worth it. They always renew me early so if I lose my health coverage I have a stockpile of pills. And they chase after a couple of doctors for me. And there is never a lineup. All they sell there is pills and OTC that doctors might prescribe, so there are no shoppers to contend with. They have always been able to give me a partial prescription in times of shortages, because they know their regular prescriptions and plan well.
I have tried every prescription outlet in town and no chain has come close to this level of service. Drugstore Pharmacy, my last place, made me cry. At some point you have to grant that you have to pay for service...+$2 a prescription to have things go seamlessly has been worth it for me.

The Universe dealt a "joker is wild" card this morning. Parent had a face plant on asphalt somewhere. Someone got him home. Then same parent demands I get sibling on the phone to take him to emergency to get his ripped lip stitched. Yeah right. I do leave a voice message. I suggest he call the specialist who did a spring surgery near the same area-nothing doing. Ditto calling his doc or calling for an ambulance which most likely will cost $45.
That parent won't take bus, wants someone to go with him to emerg (which I say no, you cannot block the emerg, that is what urgent care is for). Mom's not well and I won't be anywhere with him.
He could have chosen not to wear plastic sole sandals on wet surfaces...2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

I was thinking of switching to Costco for the low dispensing fee but have heard some people wait an hour for pick ups. Screw that. And costco isn`t even close by.
There is an independent pharmacy at my doctors office, as well as the same company not far from my home. They delivered before (Cant remember if it was charged or not...) My problem with them (On one occasion) Was my pain medicine was 10 pills short. Had to call them and get them to fill the additional 10. They didn`t question me at all it's just awkward.
My other issue is I`m also in touch with a compounding pharmacy (Oh my god don`t even get me started on that)
Long story short, there are TWO types of compounding, for the medicine I need they need a special machine apparently?
Which no one carries except for two, which are about a 25 minute drive to both and on opposite sides... (I don`t drive presently.)
Le sigh.

Sibling did not call home despite my leaving a second message and sending him a text yesterday. He told Mom he wondered why Dad would want him to drive him to the hospital? Really???
Dad called an ambulance yesterday and got stitched up. Brother took him home. Glad I missed more drama. Noticed that brother's other car is in use today by parent WEARING THE SAME FOOTWEAR he slipped in yesterday. Handclap...2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

All these anti-Kaepernick and other NFL players protesting the US anthem memes seem to boil down to
" People died to protect your right to protest, so stop protesting"

We did have a pharmacy here that consistenly shorted my patient on narcotics. Never a lot, just 5-7. I had a chat with the pharmacist and explained that if it happened again, a letter and phone call we going be be sent to the Pharmalogical Association of Ontario with all the details of the shortages.

^ Good for you. Whether it was by mistake or with intent, that is very dangerous. Especially if the person was unaware.
I count my medicine all the time. If I was short a dosage, and could not contact my pharmacy or doctor to refill (Which with narcotics they won`t refill unless you make an appointment with doc, get the slip, come back... ) I would go into withdrawals, which has happened before and is most definitely the worst feeling in the world.

I hear you all on frustrations with pharmacy's. DH's benefit package only allows him to deal with one pharmacy in our city (honestly I don't know how they can legally dictate which pharmacy you have to use). It is this big online system, and we had to create a profile with a credit card because its a mail-out program for prescriptions. At least because we are in the city we are able to just pick up the prescriptions. The whole system though is a logistical nightmare and the pharmacy itself are always out of stock on DH's meds so you have to order at least 1 or 2 days in advance.
One day I found a small charge on my credit card from them that I couldn't reconcile with a prescription receipt. When I called it took them days to find out that it had been some mistake transaction that "somehow" occurred. Now I'm constantly watching for these slip ups.
I'm glad I have my own benefits package so I can choose my pharmacy.

i know the feeling.. at the beginning of the year hubby's company decided to switch to online only pharmacy... my gosh it was a logistical nightmare, between the set up, and the confusion on all aspects because it wasn't an easy process and sometimes the set up just didn't work the first time, then switching all prescriptions over.. it was horrible... then a few months later Canada post threatened with a postal strike! in the end enough employees were frustrated and down right annoyed with the system they ended up switching back and letting people use the pharmacy of their choice again
When life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

This is what I have posted on Facebook and will soon be posting on Google Reviews: All this for a ink cartridge I am no closer to owning.
Today I have had the most frustrating experience at Staples. I went into one location to try to locate an ink cartridge for my printer. I had to stand there for 30 minutes well the staff member covering that department stood behind a counter with his back to me discussing a party him and his friend attended over the weekend. Once he did acknowledge me I was told the product I was looking for had been discontinued, even when I pointed out, that well I waited for him to end his conversation I located it on Staples.ca, I was told the website was inaccurate but if I wanted I could drive to another location 30 minutes away to see if maybe they had one.
Still willing to give Staples another chance I came home and tried to order the cartridge online and have it delivered to my local store to avoid the delivery charge. This is when I learned even if it is delivered to my local store if the order is under $45 I have to pay a $15 delivery charge.
I have now called Staples Head Office to try to locate the cartridge I need as I am not willing to pay a $15 delivery charge only to find out it is not carried in stores and is only available online. I am still baffled that Staples would charge $15 to deliver to my local store this is a service many other companies offer for free to keep customers who do not wish to pay a delivery charge.
Since at this time this is the only item I need from Staples and I refuse to pay delivery or purchase items I do not need to reach the minimum I will now be taking my business elsewhere.

I need to let off steam...
When you RT/like/share/fave your friend's business and their items on social media ALL THE FREAKING TIME, people will get sick of hearing about it and likely will never want to support that business because it's ALWAYS BEING SHOVED IN OUR FACE!!! Ever heard of something called "moderation"?? No?? Let me get you a dictionary for your birthday!
Ugh!
OK....that felt good. Now if only I had the guts to say it to the person in question...
PS - If anyone knows how to handle a situation like this, feel free to advise!Last edited by salady; Thu, Sep 15th, 2016 at 07:26 PM.
