^ OH, NO! I didn't hear that - I listened to some of the middle of the show. It was so nice to have him back!

Best call I heard was from Ashley MacIsaac - that was something else.

Rex's announcement was right at the end. I'll miss him.

Ashley MacIsaac's call was a surprise. I agree with him 100% on his security concerns.

I'm going to expand on this. Ashley just gained a lot of respect from me. A lot. The left in North America tends to come from a place of compassion, a wonderful thing The right in North America often comes from a place of pragmatism. That doesn't mean the right isn't compassionate and Ashley just showed the left can be pragmatic. In his case, at least.

He is a gay male. In many countries in the middle East and North Africa that warrants the death penalty. In the nations that it isn't criminal it is a social taboo so severe that people never 'come out' and are disowned if they are discovered. We need to be very careful when taking people in from these cultures lest their intolerance overwhelm our tolerance. We cannot be tolerant of the intolerant.

    Yes, absolutely.

Don't get me wrong here, I think a lot of people on the left, especially the younger ones, have their hearts in the right place when it comes to accepting these foreign cultures into our land. Canada has benefited from many foreign cultures, it's what makes us the amazing country we are today.

The young left want a world of harmony where everyone lives in peace and brotherly/sisterly love. That would be a good thing. I'm on board for that.

But when the people coming here are from misogynistic societies, where women are subjugated, where they're ruled entirely by their religion which makes the man the king and the women and children subject to his discipline up to and including death, where all non-believers are lesser humans and God will rejoice if you kill them...

You need to scale back your tolerance of others when it includes people like that.

As the saying goes....."It ain't over till the fat lady sings".

The latest numbers for the three leading parties:

    • Conservatives: 30.2 per cent
    • Liberals: 30.3 per cent

This sort of thing needs to happen here...but we aren't that civilized yet. Canada is always behind other Western nations in fashion, technology, etc

Interestingly, according to CBC polltracker those numbers give the CPC a threadbare minority government.

    http://www.cbc.ca/news2/interactives...015/index.html

The way the votes are distributed, I guess. Polltracker has forecast a minority government for all three major parties within the last week. The race is just that close.

CBC are losing many of their veteran politics people, Robert Fisher retired a couple of months ago, now Rex Murphy too. I hope they can get decent people to fill these slots
