August 2015 Frugal Chatter thread
SEPTEMBER GOALS
jasperandchar
1. So will focus on batch cooking once the oven is going take advantage of it by doing a dessert or freezer meals. With dh hunting I want to have some meals that he can just warm up vs. buying all kinds of expensive and unhealthy canned foods most of those dishes will include ground moose so fairly cheap meals.
2. Also going to get the young males in the shown alternating weeks between main course and baking so that we stay ahead of lunch snacks for school.
3. Want to repaint the doors upstairs as they have not been painted since we moved in

Oh my august looks expensive...a trip out of town for camping with my family. On the way home a grocery shop and some school supplies. Renewal of my car registration.
We are looking at the flex tomorrow and with much discussion we have decided if it's in appropriate condition we will see about financing it as its size wise better for a family with hockey teens than my sebring (I can't get the goalie bag in my trunk!) The Sebring will get parked until the loan it's collateral for is paid off. I kind of cringe at the thought of more debt though.
Budget wise in July I managed to end the month with putting 100 dollars surplus onto my loc, 65 dollars Cash in my pocket ...and my pc financial card is at a 0 balance.

Good Morning Everyone,
Slept into 7 an it was wonderful but now I feel like I am having a slow start to the day, oh well it is Saturday it is allowed.
Laundry has been started, going to get some paperwork for work out of the way.
Not sure what else I will get done today all depends on how the day goes. I have a few small projects I would like to get done but if I get them done great, if I don't so be it. Trying not to worry too much as I want this weekend for me.
Hope everyone has a great day

Wow! August! To add to our good news about Josette, it was announced at church last week that husbands position is no longer interim and will be expanded to full time as youth and outreach pastor (starting Sept). I still have not figured out our new budget for mat leave (I still receive salary until August 31 - it is divided over 12 months not 10). This is a must goal for us this month. New job will help. Haven't updated finances this week due to baby's arrival, goal for first week!!!

Happy Caturday!!!
As you can see we're still showing our pride as we await the ParPanAm Games. Can't wait for the next group of athletes to take over the neighbourhood - it's too quiet around here without them!
Lily dog is back to her (normal) crazy self - I suspect she either pulled a muscle or pinched a nerve. Something that a couple of days worth of bedrest fixed. Too bad she takes after me and keeps forgetting she's no longer a young pup. What was she thinking trying to keep up with a 10 month old puppy?! Not that I'm the voice of reason (guess who else is dealing with an ouchie from overdoing it, sigh).
Today's to-do list has only one item - hanging out with the critters. Everything else can wait.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Feeling blah, we just got back yesterday and dh wants to head back up to the cottage tonight or tomorrow am. We need groceries and the forecast for next week is a lot of rain so we'll see. He wants to attend a family corn roast near the cottage, the boys and I don't want to go but he wants the kids to atleast go. With all this driving and my OCD I think I will pass but he may get cranky but geez he should put himself in my shoes (lol). We didn't get much work done at the cottage as we would have liked because of the crazy heat wave, it's kind of frustrating as dh has been really draggy for a few months now and I don't mind venturing to the cottage but not for 6 days at a time. @lizzie bargain enjoy your vacation and sounds like you may have another 2 babies to snuggle. @SassyAshley do what you can hun, take care and enjoy some quiet time @saundyl I hear you about an expensive August but you are always so great with your budget you'll manage fine @coupon girl enjoy the quiet time with your dh while all the kids are gone

Just whipped something together for Mom to take for dinner and there will be leftovers for my dinner or lunch. Used up the quinoa we had in the fridge, as well as some mushrooms. Also used one of the Chicken Breasts mom picked up yesterday at RCSS for $1.99/lb. Trying to show Mom there are many dishes we can make where we only need to use 1 Chicken Breast. I am really trying to get our meat costs down since the sales just aren't there anymore.
All we bought last week in the way of groceries was broccoli and cauliflower and our fridge is really starting to show it. Will have to see what is on sale this week, we can grab groceries on Monday as we are going to meet my bro for dinner. Normally I don't tag along so Mom and Bro get some time alone but they are going to my this Japaneses tasting restaurant which is amazing, who knew I liked Japaneses food. I have been craving their chicken teriyaki sushi for months, so I am tagging along. Really hope this will lift mom spirits. The more "odd" things that happen at her work (it is pretty much daily if not hourly) the more I think there is more going on then the lower level staff know. So I have decided to stay positive keep planning like I was before and hopefully something good will come our way.

Angela congratulations! You are amazing! Sounds like you had the birth( or very close to it) that you wanted. Such healthy birth weights too and glad they are here before August-they were in no rush it seems! Enjoy your new babies! My sister works for the Eli-Lily company in the US! Lovely names.

Happy August Girls!!
Congratulations Angela, you are a warrior, delivering the babies naturally. Beautiful names as well. Rest when you can and enjoy.
Heading to the lake for the week, Just going to spend some relaxing days with my husband and my Granddaughter is coming on Monday to spend a few days with us. Looking forward to just doing some fishing with my husband and and relaxing.
I have my doctor's appointment on the 10th and will see what the prognosis is. I am feeling just ok but am determined to keep busy and still working a few hours a week.I find it therapeutic to get out and work a few hours.
August is going to fly by and I am determined to enjoy the remaining days of summer, fall is my favorite season and I am looking forward to it!!
Take it easy and let people spoil you angela and Granger!!
Nancy I hope the depression lifts soon for you, I can relate it is a tough go sometimes.
Lizzie enjoy the US shopping, wish the dollar was better for you!!
Natalka, congrats on the new baby in the family and I am so sorry to hear about your BIL(read in the tea-room). My neighbor was diagnosed with a esophageal cancer, very advanced and he is doing way better than anticipated with chemo, not a cake walk but it is encouraging.
Sassy, what can I say. Something has to give for you soon, goes from bad to worse it seems.
Saundyl, how exciting, the flex is an awesome ride and my friend is a hard core hockey mom and loves hers, she loves how it handles our Alberta winters!!
Enjoy the long weekend and stay safe everyone.
