I was too shocked the first time to do anything. But second time, I knew he was coming and as soon as he touched my butt, I went all apesh*t on him! Probably why he hasn't touched me again but that hasn't stopped DH from watching for 1 false move.

It drives me insane when cashiers (or others I don't know) call me sweetheart, honey or dear -- whether they are male or female. That said, it is downright creepy when it's some random man. My DD works at a bank and, of course, wears a name tag. There was one guy who was way overly-friendly to her to the point the branch manager had to ask him to take his business to another branch. Of course, he probably thought he was flattering her...although it's beyond me why a man who has a joint bank account reading Mr & Mrs xxxxx would think that coming onto a 22 year girl is flattering.....
So many coupons....so little time!

Lady cashiers and other service workers do that to me all the time too. Sweetie, is the big one, sweetheart sometimes. Not so much honey or dear. I think it's an attempt to be friendly, but it does feel odd. Those are terms of endearment and if we don't know each other you probably shouldn't use them.
That said, I know those ladies are only trying to be nice. Whereas some guys who use those terms are being a bit less than nice.

I don't mind the familiarity.
I use it to my advantage.
They become my favourite cashiers. They tend to be more coupon friendly when I am getting the deals.
I make sure that if there is a comment card, they get a positive report, and I let them know it when I am writing the report.
From the "hon/sweety/dear" comments comes a long term positive shopping relationship, in my experience.

ppl dont always realise that they are being creepy that does not make it ok though. also nametag are there is because the uniformss usualy tend to not only make u look alike but also tent to be same for male/female. sometimes its hard to tell who was your cashier or helper or whatever just cuz one girl with blond hair/ brown hair or whatever with similar body weight tend to look exacly the same. Its a harsh reality but true. They are also there if the customer wants to complain online to HO its the easiest way to track.

Men can be severe pigs. I have even had men hit on me right in front of my parents, my children and even my husband!! I guess after the years I've become immune to it. Just have to roll your eyes and bare it.

lol!!! I should mention, in Men's defense, its not only men who can be that way. There was a woman who use to hit on me when I was younger, I was about 18 at the time and she was in her early 20's, when I would visit my parents she would park in my parents driveway and try to get me to come out. Even ask my dad when I was coming home.... she was pretty darn creepy too!!!

I think I should say its not just men. I have had women be creepy to DH right in front of me. I'm wearing a ring and holding his hand and everything! I realise they may look a bit better then me but seriously?! Just because I'm not stick thin with massive boobs doesn't mean I am invisible! DH is just flattered.
When I worked at MCD's we had to wear name tags too. I hated it. Especially when people would call me by my name like they knew me. I also hated the love/hun/sweety names too.
My mom calls my DH sweetie all the time and it creeps both of us out so everytime she says it I keep telling her He is my sweety not hers. Doesn't seem to make a difference.
I do think tho for certain retail places name tags make all the difference when there is no set uniform. Like Bed Bath and Beyond where I was today.Insert Clever Signature Here

I used to work alone in a gatehouse at a campground.
I remember one day an American came in with an RV and wanted a site. He was constantly trying to flirt with me and mentioned that after I finished work I could go over to his trailer and have a shower if I wanted. Then he told me not to let it bother me, that he was just a flirt and would flirt with a little girl too (Hello? That just made the whole thing even creepier!). I was 22, and I believe he was in his 50s.
This was definitely one of those times where it was hard for me to be polite and control my facial expression (I'm very bad for showing what I'm thinking on my face). The way I look at it though, I had a good story to tell my coworkers the next time I saw them.

It can definitely be a person thing, not a gender thing. I've had a female cashier hit on my husband in front of me while checking out our groceries. She picked up the passionfruit that we were purchasing for a souffle recipe and she made some sort of creepy joke about getting passionate with him. All I could think was hello, look at ring on finger!

What does creepy mean anyways? Like if a hot guy smiles at a girl and talks to her, it's not creepy but if an ugly guy does the same thing, it's creepy?
At my last company there was this receptionist and I would often walk past her desk because it was on my way to a meeting I had several times a week. I would usually give her a smile and a hello. I was definitely not attracted to her (she was maybe a 5/10 on a good day) but I smile and say hi to everyone, men or women, old or young, because I'm generally a friendly guy. Later I found out she had been telling people that "this creepy guy keeps walking past my desk to check me out". So after that whenever I walked past her desk I would completely ignore her, and wouldn't even look at her direction. One day as I walk past she goes "how come you never say hi to me anymore?". I ignored her and kept walking. It's hard being polite (especially if you're not that attractive) because girls will think you're trying to hit on them. Sometimes it's better to just not smile or say hi even if it means you'll come off as rude.
