I usually get my daughters and sons cards and chocolate, roses for my daughters and balloons for my son. DH and I usually go out for a nice supper, but this year my valentines is going to be off the charts because my DS is coming home from university, so I am making the drive to Moncton right after work to pick him up at the bus station (mom's taking a break from the long drive to Acadia).

DH and I are thinking of having our Valentines on Saturday - just have an "us" afternoon and get a nice lunch and maybe go watch a movie together. IDK if DH is planning on flowers or any gifts, I am just looking forward to having my son home. I got DH his card, now I just need to find him a gift, maybe cologne or something else he might like.

We'll be babysitting our grandson so that our DD and her DH can go out for a nice romantic dinner..they deserve it! I told hubby not to get me anything and he said, 'not even flowers?', and I said...except flowers....I always pick up a little something for our DD and her hubby...I'll probaby pick up flowers and have them on the table in a vase for their arrival home...

I am hoping the guy I got a thing for maybe makes a move but considering how close we are to Valentine's Day pretty sure even if he does we will be skipping it.

I must admit I am not big on Valentine's Day it is marketing Holiday but just once I would like to celebrate it and by this I mean on a small toned down frugal way. I have told guys in the past buy me roses and I will beat you with them if you pay Valentine's Day pricing, wow am I romantic or what??????????????????? LOL
One day, when you have the guy of your dreams, don't discourage him from doing special things for you; expect to be treated and spoiled once in a while or you could be like some of the gals who complain that their guys don't do anything for them.
I expect to be spoiled and I spoil my hubby, too...it may just be flowers, because I told him I don't need anything, and he asked, 'not even flowers?', and I said oh! Yes, flowers for sure! lol!
If I'm out of my favourite perfume, he finds the bottle on his pillow if we're close to my birthday or another holiday...don't discourage him or you may forever get exactly what you expect: nothing. And where's the fun in that?!
    Just sayin'...

Thank you Lynn actually I have been told a lot lately I am the ultimate simple girl, I do not so much look for things like flowers or perfume. Things that make me happy is someone carrying the laundry downstairs for me or a guy who would come home after work and see be peeling potatoes and offer to cut them for me, that would make me so happy.

Have you all seen the heart shaped pasta that Olivieri makes?
I think they're super cute, great for making a day a little more special.

It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.
