Hi Everyone!
I am down 3.5lbs this week. Some of the weight loss was due to having the stomach flu on Wednesday
I am feeling much better now and seem to have my energy back. I'm going to walk to and from the school this afternoon and will try and get back on the treadmill tomorrow. Yesterday I was still feeling nauseous so all I wanted to eat was carbs. But I am determined to not let this illness derail me from my goals
Glad to hear you are getting back on track Lynn
Walkonby, sorry to hear that your weight loss has stalled
Stick with it and the weight will start coming back off
I was stuck for a few weeks and it took me upping my exercise a bit to get the scale moving. I'm sure you'll find something that will work for you.
Keep up the good work everyone and have a good weekend

Monsanto and all GMO products are the reason I gave up corn on the cob about maybe 7 years ago now?? If it is a GMO product it has to go!! My family used to ask for corn here and there, as Natalka calls it " the first corn " the cobs look so inviting, but since I am the chief ( cook, shopper ) nuh uh.
So I remained the same weight as last Friday. I am now going to tweak ( drastically reduce ) my " super food ad ons " ( hemp hearts, golden flax meal, chia seed powder, and cocoa nibs ) as these items, although great nutritionally and full of anti oxidants are quite high on the calories ( THANKS LYNN49,
why did I never suspect them as being one of the culprits!!? )
Today I was out and about at 5 different stores starting at 7:00 a.m., after getting all the stuff in and put away, then cooking up a few different dishes for the gang, I just want to fall back asleep.
Good luck everyone heading into another FRESH week!! We can do it!!

Mia, honestly, we are all on different plans/diets.
Some are following Weight Watcher's, which I think you can do it online!
Some are doing Herbal Magic ( read back on Lynn49 posts )
Other's are just cutting back on portions, and/or eliminating desserts, snacky things.
Most of us drink plenty of water every day! You can certainly start with that. ( sip about 8 glasses a day )
A few have decided to go to a Clean Eating policy, so NO processed foods being bought. all meals are made from scratch with fresh ingredients.
Making healthy green juices is another way to drop some weight, but don't run out and buy a juicer if you do not have one, read up on what juicing entails before you invest in that choice.
Finally exercise ( a bad word in my mind, lol! ) That will probably give you the most noticeable drop in weight if you combne it with any of the above dietary restrictions above.
Lastly Mia, we are just not going to throw in the towel because we have lost and regained some of our weight back, we are here to encourage each other in this thread....so stick around and maybe you will find a plan you can follow!

Now today has been bad was so tired when I got home I got my mom to bring me a sub today for lunch and than tonight I am going to a retirement dinner so that will be another meal out.

I am watching what I eat. Whatever that actually means.
I have a constant battle saying no to pop, chips, chocolate, fried food. Things that will give you a weight problem. Among other things.... I basically want to kill all those skinny people that glow about how amazing their healthy diets are, because I would rather eat a bag of chips than their kale salad.
Being here helps me to say no to the things that are not good for me. Every no is a win.
My latest strategy when I am dealing with temptation is to say, "Present for my kids AND my grandkids." (My kids are 2 and 3 years old).
I have the flu...respiratory. Haven't weighed in this week. But have been have success saying no!Last edited by Granger; Sat, May 3rd, 2014 at 04:57 PM.

Granger...my DD is 37, our grandson will be turning 6 in June. It's a little late for me, but I hope and pray that with the changes I'm making now I'll at least be around to watch him go into high-school. God willing, into university...and so on.
You're so wise to do this now...

Just wanted to wish everyone well on their journey to healthier lives.
I've resigned myself to being 20lbs heavier than I'd like (was the same dress size from age 16 to 40, then I, um, expanded, so to speak
). I'm probably not as careful in my diet as I should be (25 years of being a strict diabetic is a hard habit to break, even if I can eat whatever I want whenever). The weight gain is a result of 25ish years of insulin (hormones) followed by (now) 11 years of steroids (prednisone is part of my anti-rejection regimen for the transplant) whose side effect is bloating/weight gain.
Here's a fun little song about someone we should probably avoid.

I downloaded a calorie tracking app and I hate it! It groups all calories in as the same. Fruit is grouped the same as chocolate. Ummmm no. Useless... I actually love eating bowls of veggies but hate fruit. The fruit we have in Canada in winter is sub, sub sub par and I find I buy it trying to be healthy but I can't eat it because it's yucky.
I don't own a scale but my clothes still don't fit. I go on the exercise bike 3x a week and I am getting MORE cellulite. I gained a ton of weight last year because I had a foot injury and couldn't walk for about a year. Now my feet are better but I can't get rid of the weight. I drink litres and litres of water a day (I always have). I don't drink pop. I don't like chips. I am not in the habit of eating a lot of junk food and I don't go out to eat much. Why is this happening?
Thanks for listening to my rant

I loved your rant! It is what many of us have experienced in various stages of reducing. So the calorie tracking app, that is so coincidental that just on May 3rd I did the exact same thing ( well on my desk top I mean, registered to a free site called Everyday Health.com ) which tracks what you've eaten as you enter it and lets you know what is available to eat for the rest of the day.
I am not sure I agree with some of the values they state for certain foods, ( eg: 1 cup cucumber 8 calories, 1 cup cucumber peeled 10 calories ! how does peeling it make it a higher value? ) BUT I do love that each food is broken down into everything it contains. So not just calories, but sugar, fat, carb, fibre, cholesterol, sodium and proteins.
Once you decide what calorie amount you want for your plan ( I chose 1100 per day ) it then lets you know how much of each of the other things that 1100 calories should consist of, so certain %'s of fats.proteins, carbs, fibre etc and if you choose bad food low in calorie you are going to go over the nutritional calculations laid out.
I hope I am making sense to you. You are doing plenty of things right! Congrats on that ( the water, exercise, the veggie choice over fruit! SAME as me, the elimination of junky or restaurant type meals. ) so something else may be causing your stall in weight loss. If you want to check out the site where I track mine, have a look and see if it might be a better fit for what you want to do as you lose.
