I have a large blade beef roast simmering away in the slow cooker...It smells wonderful already...not sure what I'm going to do with it yet but if I can find some fresh buns/rolls later it will be great for pulled beef with all the hustle & bustle and everyone coming and going! Fried rice with veggie strifry and a glass of milk. It should be yummy.

Fried rice: leftover rice, roast ham, eggs, frozen mixed veggies, some finely diced celery and onion, soy sauce
veggie stifry: fresh onion, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, white mushrooms, canned baby corn, possibly sliced water chestnuts, some sauce.

We, too, wanted something totally different that we wouldn't have over Christmas - but I was busy all day and tuckered out so I didn't want to cook.

Got the McD's holiday box special with nuggets, fries, drinks, and cookies; husband added on four McDoubles; plus we got six free wings from 7-11 (got coupons in mail for a few other freebies too). No, not all was eaten, though!

Spending another Christmas in NFLD...Christmas Eve supper will be at my grandmother's this evening...it's ALWAYS baked salted cod fish, cleaned (soaked in water for days) slathered in butter & onions and baked until it falls to pieces, boiled potatoes, various homemade pickles, homemade raisin molasses bread, snogs of cheese, old fashioned fruit cakes and usually several different desserts to choose from....and then we open our gifts from each other ( not Santa Claus) and then after all that's done a big pork fry. There is usually standing room only...My aunt & uncle usually does the frying, nipping on all the alcohol around...and then everyone breaks out various appetizers, the food will be endless today!

Last night was our Sviata Vechera - Christmas Eve Holy Supper.
Because it's just the three of us, we have a scaled down version of the traditional foods, though, and there is no meat nor dairy.

My son's first helping - (pardon the corelle, our china is still boxed up)

Size: 92.4 KB

kapusta and peas - sauerkraut, onions, garlic, and peas
you can't really see the perogies because of the sauce!
pidpenky - mushrooms and onions in gravy
    baked wild salmon
    cabbage rolls

Before eating, we had the traditional shot of horilka (tried a lovely vodka from Ukraine) to warm up our voices for singing a carol for grace, and then had a nice white zinfandel with the meal.
(Uh, I followed the meal with (hic) more vodkas with pineapple juice...)

Zonny, I used the recipe for stuffing bread you posted in the Crockpot thread. It turned out well, if a bit dense, but it was great for stuffing. (I didn't use bread flour.) I also made the stuffing in the Crockpot.
