Good morning folks! Enjoyed a very nice Canada Day barbecue at my brother's house after doing significant packing.
Almost finished getting my clothing all packed or put in a suitcase from which I can live for , I figure, 3 weeks.
Still frustrated by the burocracy of arranging insurance -
Beautiful weather.
Hope to make it back to Kitchener to help celebrate my baby brother's 48th birthday today and deliver some of my artwork that I don't want the movers to handle and still more frozen food.
Can't get Sadie to vet until after tomorrow for follow-up blood work re: possible Lyme Disease.
Some people took Friday off -some took Saturday-Some are taking today- I don't know who I can contact and who I can't - I guess I took them all off so I shouldn't complain.
Well the empty boxes cry out to be filled.
Have a great day!!!

Hello, everyone!
Lots of catching-up ... it seems like you all had a great Canada Day weekend in your own special ways, good for you!!
We're back from camp after a long weekend with the family..DD took Friday and today off and she and we are back now, but her DH and their son will be staying at camp the rest of the week...she'll be back there Thursday afternoon.
We'll be off to Toronto Wednesday morning for a little surgery on DH's cheek (his face cheek! )...basal cancer again, nothing to fret about but must be dealt with. He's preparing my stupid wheelchair for any shopping we'll want to do on Wednesday when we go down there; hate the thing, but that's what it takes for me to shop, His surgery is 7:30am on Thursday, then we'll drive home, pack for camp and leave Friday morning.
Who says retirement is boring!!
AND!!! AND!! Our DH broke the news to me that for my b'day in September, we're all going to CasinoRama and she and I will go to the Chris d'Burg concert!! WE LOVE his music, always have! The guys will not be attending..haha!
I can't WAIT!!!!
Well, that's all the news that's fit to print for now. I hope everyone is relaxed from the weekend and had time to decompress and relax.
Not my pic, but the dock our Grandson swims out to....finally today the weather is NICE enough for the beach!!
Jenny and I have often walked out to that little lighthouse...

You had a wonderful event there, @cabmonk !!!
That young mayor of yours is really putting the pizzazz in your town, I hear..
We finally got approval here for a big new project...Casino/entertainment venue, hotel complex; hopefully we can finally attract some great entertainment, too!

Oh and just to really prove that Timmins really is a mining town. That big dirt area behind the crowd in the pic is the gold corp open pit mine lol. I have had a hard time convincing visitors that the mine site really is pretty much right in the middle of town.

@Lynn49 we still need to find out the final costs of the festival, some people are pissed the city did it. About a week or 2 out they were 1 million away from breaking even but they had steady walk up sales all during the event. So we should find out total numbers soon.

@cabmonk , I was wondering about that; the cost to host this event must have been astronomical. I hope your city recoups that money at the very least, and at the very best, makes money!! Seems his time in office hinges on the outcome?

Lynn, glad you had a lovely long weekend - I've wondered why you two don't stay out there during the week.
Lucky you to be going to see Chris De Burgh - I'm a huge fan of his, as well.
I haven't heard his latest album, but this song is my fave

Hi, @Newfiescreech !
Oh, Honey, it was a cool one this weekend; the best, hottest day was today, when we were leaving!
And um...I don't like water. Lakes or pools. Lakes because of the icky stuff on the bottom of the lake...eeewwww...and the stuff that might be swimming around beside me...{{{shudder}}}...and pools because...well, really...why??
If it's hot out I hide in the trailer or our house where it's always 68 degrees...
But our GS loves it and it's fun to see him splashing around with his friends there, swimming to that floating dock and pushing each other off or tipping it so everyone falls off...he also likes to go on a paddle board or in his kayak; he's a water-baby like his Mom. I'd have to pry her out of her tub as a tot!
I hope you had a relaxing weekend with your family, Screech, and I hope you had better weather than we did!!

Lynn, I love that song too.... and many others!
I just can't imagine someone not liking water, or swimming, but I know you aren't the only one. My second oldest sister is like that. I always loved swimming, and liked lake swimming - even though we only did it once a year while I was growing up - the provincial park was about a half hour away.
My oldest sister's birthday is today, she's 70 (14 years older than me, but once we were adults we've always been the closest at heart....).
Don't mean to be creepy, but all of us siblings are thinking like - hey, she broke the 'curse' - since my mom was 69 when she passed away - hopefully all of us will live longer.
It's just SO hot in the house - the a/c only cools the kitchen, and I can't stay in there all of the time!
We hit 32 with a lot of humidity.
