Good morning, everyone!
Patty, I thought all cars had power windows as a standard feature? Even the 98 Caravan my folks bought years ago had it (& it wasn't top of the line).
Many many years ago (er, decades?) when I bought a car, I asked how much it would cost to have no A/C. I figured I could cut a few hundred off the price & it's not a big deal to me. I just about fainted when the salesman said I would have to pay $3000 for them to take out the A/C on a $12000 car!

Oh well, just found out my very expensive 1 year old snow tires will no longer fit on the new one. Shart!
My mechanic said don't expect to get more than $25 each ! I nearly fainted. LOL $600! Tires down the drain.

There were a few made with no power option to see if they would be popular, my car sales lady told me yesterday she sold only 2 of them .LOL Guess they weren't too popular and now I know why, the windows stick in the winter and you can barely roll them down, I think that's how I injured my rotator cuff.

Patty, try sell them on kijiji - you'll get a lot more than selling them through a tire shop.
Great news about your insurance - now I'm curious how much it is? I know it depends upon what it covers, our insurance is probably different than yours in regard to liability, etc.

My dad just told me he wants them as spares for his van so I would rather keep them for him than sell them for practically nothing.
Our insurance is different here. When you have an accident it is your insurance company that pays no matter what. The only thing is whoever is deemed at fault will have to pay their deductable. So for this reason, and for the fact that I have had a lot of vandalism and other things happen to my cars, unless I have an accident, which has not happened for 22 years I never make a claim. My deductables, theft, accident, vandalism are all at $1000 meaning I pay the first $1000 on any damage and frankly it's worth it because I don't repair dents, fender benders etc. it's not worth it because the premium would go up. So, my insurance on this car is $850 per year.

Patty, that's great that your dad can use them!
Our insurance here is a monopoly, so that sucks a bit... no comparisons.
I just did a quick search on your van (not knowing the exact model) so I just did the base model, which is over $1200/yr. That's with a $700 deductible, and we have no fault for liability. BUT it depends upon your safety rating - mine is at the highest, which means 20% less, so that helps a lot. Hm, but I don't have a vehicle right now... my husband's is low (drat those tickets), so he's at a low discount. I think his insurance for his 1991 Caravan is just over $600 a year.

DH, here in SK, doesn't go by age at all! It's one price for all, discounts are for safety ratings.
Glad we aren't in AB where you get really stung for having young male drivers in the family - don't know how my sister did it with three sons!

The mechanics we go to are very good to us. If they say we shouldn't expect more than $25, then it's a pretty accurate amount. Winter tires are supposed to be replaced every 3 or 4 years so we used up at least half the value. I can't remember if we used them for 2 or 3 winters.

Anyhoo moot point since my dad wants them, it's their 3rd winter.
My trailer hitch disintegrated when they topok it off lol. Oh well it wouldn't fit on the new one anyways.
