got a homemade apple pie in the oven right now. I love the smell of cinnamon throughout the house as the pie bakes!

My aunt's baked cheese loaf. I only make it 2-3 times each year. Oh is it ever good.

The Saturday before Thanksgiving-banana chiffon cake. I could not find Martha Stewart's version (had a note somewhere) so I simply took out the 1/4 cup oil and 3/4 water out of the regular chiffon cake recipe (Robin Hood, mid-1980s) and subbed in 1 cup banana puree. Yum-it worked out and how quickly "let them eat cake" turned into reality. When I did look at the MS recipe a few days later online, I was disappointed to note only 1 banana was needed. I prefer my MacGyvered version.

Thanksgiving day-apple coffee cake. A week later, I made the cake again with cranberries a(2 cups) and added in some ED Smith Triple fruit apricot peach mango jam (for a bit of extra flavour and to make up for not having citrus zest in the batter). Not a fan of cranberry coffee cake-was glad I had not reduced the sugar for this version. The berries were tart (reduced produce find that I had to buy) even with the sugar. Next time I have to only use 1 cup of cranberries along with 1 cup of some other fruit or forget making the cake.

Might have to wait another week before baking again as some key pantry items are almost gone or in need of replacement. Guess I'll have to make homemade cocoa with sugar for a sweet treat.

I baked healthy banana oatmeal cranberry chocolate chip cookies on Tuesday with my daycare kids. Yesterday morning I used frozen berries in a crisp, I used a new recipe that I don't love. Not nearly enough crisp part and it is soupy. I also baked this with my daycare kids.

Not my daycare kids. By the time it is getting in the oven they are usually ready to wash their hands and go play. My son likes to help dry the dishes.

I made bread from scratch this week, no bread machine for me! Just a white using milk for the liquid to give it richness.
