This road is a section of Nova Scotia Highway 104, also known as the Trans-Canada Highway, from Masstown, Colchester County, to Thomson Station, Cumberland County. It was built by a private company as a bypass for the old two-lane Highway 4 through Wentworth which was notorious for dangerous driving conditions and was the location of 52 traffic deaths in the last ten years.

    Subject: UCLA Study

A study worth sharing with friends both male and female:

A study conducted by UCLA's Department of Psychiatry has revealed that
the kind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending on
where she is in her menstrual cycle.
    For example:

If she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine
    features.

However, if she is menstruating, or menopausal, she tends to be more
attracted to a man with duct tape over his mouth and a spear lodged in
his chest while he is on fire.

    No further studies are expected.
lmfao...my husband said "Good that there will be no more studies"!!!

    This one is mine!

    http://www.sheknows.com/contests/fun...ent/view/oh-no

I even heard a few "Oh no's" today. Then again I hear it every day at least 10 times. It's just funny when she farts and says "Oh no!" with the saddest voice and look EVER!

Thanks for all the words everyone!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend...I doubt I'll be around much tomorrow, it's a dreaded day for me

    See you all soon!

Amy, here in NS they have the power to "Form 1" a patient if they feel they may be in danger of harming himself/others. I would really try to speak to his family doctor and voice your concerns over it. Probably him being at your parents isn't good, no doubt. But, I think it may be even worse if he was alone. Is there any way at all that he could live with you for a while? He's in the slumps and needs to speak to someone who is trained to help him. That should be done ASAP. Some medication can actually work opposite and perhaps he's not on the proper meds, or the dosage isn't high enough...

Please know that I AM thinking of you and your family...you continue to be in my thoughts and prayers

At this point I am not sure it is helping anyone by him staying with my parents as it is bringing them down and at their age (67 and 72) they do not need the added stress. I have consulted with a friend of mine in Austin, TX who is doing her PhD in psychology to see what our next step is. I might ultimately he needs to be admitted but not sure where or if it will help him in any way. I know when he was suicidal and went to the hospital he kept telling us he doesn't belong there, but there is nothing else we can do. He is sitting in his room not eating and now not even watching tv, just staring up at the ceiling. He is our oldest brother who should be there to care for us when mom and dad go and I can't imagine that my parents may have to bury him at this point. Sometimes I sit here and truly think this is some really bad dream because it should not be happening to my family.
    I feel so helpless.
    Sorry for the downer people.

On a better note thank you for the words and wish we had rep back.
    Sending prayers your way.

Don`t know if this will help - I have a couple of friends who are dealing with severe depression. The way they handle their illness is to make lists. The way my one friend described it, it`s a loss of focus. She starts to do one task, then gets overwhelmed with the thought of all the other things that have to be done, to the point where she only wants to stay in bed. She`s found the only way to get through the day is to make lists. Very specific, very detailed lists especially during the late fall & winter months.

    8am - wake up
8:05am - go to bathroom & brush teeth

8:15am - change out of pjs & into day clothes

    8:30am - make bed
    remove blanket & pillows
    smooth out sheets
    lay blanket on bed
fluff pillow & place on bed

    8:45am - make breakfast
    go to fridge
take out 2 slices of bread
    place bread in toaster
    press lever
go to fridge, take out butter/jam/peanut butter/etc
go to drawer, remove butter knife
go to cupboard, take out plate
    listen for toaster to pop
remove toast & place on plate
    spread butter/jam/peanut butter/etc on toast
    return butter/jam/peanut butter/etc to fridge

9:00am - place dirty plate & knife in sink or dishwasher

And so on for all tasks throughout the day. She finds if it`s broken down into such tiny elements, it`s not as overwhelming to do the task.

This is me to a T. But the task of making detailed lists takes just too much work and thought. I'd give up right away 'cause I'd be thinking of all the other things that need to be done.
I started taking meds for ADD 3 years ago and it helped a bit but I'm also on anti-depressants and a few months ago I started taking bi-polar meds. I haven't been diagnosed as bi-polar but the meds seem to work. I've been on anti-depressants for over 6 years and I still haven't found the right meds or dose. It's a long road, I'll probably have to take meds for life and I accept that.

Amy, it sounds like being committed is his best option because staying at home isn't working.

Ok, Wiki finally working again, is all updated.

NS... Sorry husband is being a butt.

Husband got the Christmas stuff out today, much to my chagrin. We have a huge lot of stuff we put out every year, and he doesn't realize what a pain in the a** it is to keep the kiddos out of it. I'd rather we put it up on Dec. 15 and took down 3 days after Christmas. If the kids were older, I'd put it up early... I love it all too, but with little ones it is so much work!

Hope you are all having a lovely evening. It is snowing so hard here I cannot see the other houses, almost can't see cars on our street. Pretty deep too. DH has already banned me from even trying to shovel. YAY! LOL

Thnx for the advise and prayers everyone, I really appreciate it. As for my brother living with me I offered it but I have small kids and he thinks they will bug him and since my place is so small he doesn't want to come here, get the kids on his last nerve and then he lose it on them. Last week his son (25yrs old) came to visit and I was hoping that would help him, but it seems to put him in more of a slump. At first he didn't want to see him, said he didn't want his son to see the way he got. I told him so it is okay for your own parents to see you doing this to you. Our parents are watching you fall apart and die in front of them

    Hi!

I'm very happy--I have a week off from work!

LOL your girls are beautiful! Thanks for sharing the pics with us. I can relate to the changing careers because you can't make a living with a music degree...

NS, sorry you are having such a long list of problems right now. I hope things get better soon.

Amy, I'm sending lots of (((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))) to you. Hang in there!

HG, I hope you have a nice time.

For all of you who are getting snow, just know that some of us down south hope to see a little of it here before winter is over. We get it so infrequently that it is a bit of a treat when we have flurries. If there happens to be any accumulation, everyone goes crazy--you would have a big laugh watching people pack the grocery stores to buy milk and bread!

I love siamese kitties, too. I had one that lived 19 years. It always amazed me to find out that people were afraid of her because she was siamese. She was a sweet cat who loved to play. We had a neighbor who was afraid of her, and she seemed to know it. Whenever this lady came to visit, kitty would sit down right beside her feet and stare at her! It was so funny!

Thanks for all of the new words!

DUST was originally used on 11/17/08 as a 100 point word. I emailed them to let them know it was not working and I guess others did to cause they changed it to WHO. The email I got from them said:

The problem is fixed now please let us know if you continue to have problems.
Now if I could just find the links to the pages that the words Money (10) and Clothespin (200) were on for this Thanksgiving word list I could get them to add them back in the system again. I am still looking for them. My mother got the word money to work for her one day but so far I have not been able to get it to work.

*hugs* I can relate. Its so hard to watch a family member fall apart. It's not hopeless though. One of my parents had to be hospitalized for anxiety and depression over the summer and is doing fine now. The extra stress can't be good for your parents either. It really sounds like he needs some professional in-patient care until he can get well again.
