Ours had died like that and all it ended up being was the fuse and we had the fuse replaced and it worked like a charm...Are you sure it isn't just the fuse that bluew?

Also, try the Superstore, that's where we bought ours and it was only like $50 and it's an RCA and we haven't had any problems with it so far and we've had it over a year....

which fuse you mean chickey? the one that's inside the microwave? or the one in the fuse box in the basement??? it's not the fuse in the basement i can tell you that. it ticks, but the light doesn't come on and the motor doesn't go, but it counts the time down ya know?

see an rca one at walmart for 97$. i need a big one. this is a good size, and has a grilling option. from what i can tell, it seems to be reasonably priced. maybe too much so. i checked: zellers, kent, future shop, bestbuy, home depot, sears. they all range from under $100 (too small) to $1000 (too much). but everything that is stainless steel at 1.whatever cubics is like $130-200.

so seriously considering the rca one. they had 4. and they better have one left on friday otherwise i'm kicking my hubbys ass to the moon. (for not letting me put it on layaway).

Good luck on the new microwave. They just don't make appliances to last like they did a few years ago. Of course they are not near as expensive either.

my first microwave, when they first came out, was that fake wood look, sony for $500. got 10 years outta that sucker, and it cooked a 10-12 lb turkey one xmas perfectly.

my 2nd microwave was an over the range type, fridgedaire i think. 600 bucks. had sensor cook and everything. it KNEW when my veggies were done. luved cooking corn in it.

this 3rd one i have, is an EMMERSON--AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!! lasted less than a year. it was stainless steel on sale at canadian tire. $75. it had a pizza button and a popcorn button.. defrost settings for meat, poulty and chicken.

*sigh*

so the way things look, the 4th microwave i get will be lucky to last a week.

and btw, i am ABSOLUTELY THRILLED with how sk is handling the contests. am flipping them off a raving email i think they finally listened to emails and *ahem* sassy contest entries. my confidence in the contests is restored!

I know there is another site I can send them to also so have to figure out which will be worth more to me. Little worried about doing it tho watching my son having to use old phones until he has enough to get the phone he wants after breaking his phone.
NS I got a microwave at walmart before Katrina that I absolutely loved it was a convection oven, it baked, grilled did everything but the laundry lol, really miss it but haven't been able to find it at walmart or I would of gotten another. It was under $200 but I don't remember how much it was, got it for mothers day so had it for about 3 months before Katrina got it. Walmart still has layaway up there huh? That is so cool I'm so mad at them for doing away with it here, that was the only way I was able to get some of the things I did get.

I hope everyone else had a good weekend. My was very busy and long!!

The DS won his hackey game at the Civic Centre here in Ottawa. That would be the 2nd game they won all year and against the same team. They were all so happy. After his game we stayed to watch the Ottawa 67's play and they won their game, so it was a good night. After the game we stoop around waiting to get siggys from the players. We got 8 of them and then left. We got hoe a 11:30 and the DS had to play another game the next morning at 9am. The whole team was sleepy and of course they lost that game. LOL

On Saturday we had the DS's birthday party, went bowling, opened gifts had icecream cake and then let the 3 boys run wild. I made them go to bed at 11pm. They were all up by 8am on Sunday. The DD went to her friends for the night but they were back by noon. Everyone had a DS lite gameboy thng so they were all playing games until the boys were picked. Needless to say I am soooo very tiered!! I can't wait to get home to go to bed!!

Damn, that was a long weekend!

I had very little to eat for breakfast & lunch, knowing I'd be going out for a huge meal (I swear I don't eat this much food in a week). The food was amazing - I was baaad - 3 plates full - slices of delicious ham & roast beef, a bit of chicken, my former fav Hawaiian Ham (ham pieces mixed with pieces of onion, green pepper & pineapple in a sort of sweet & sour sauce) & my new fav chicken pieces in oyster sauce served with crisp green beans. Then, for dessert, they had a new toy - a chocolate fountain. So of course, I had chocolate covered bananas & chocolate covered melon, which was surprisingly good.

I joke that I'm more of a carnivore than my dog or cat, since they love eating their veggies. The brats were a bit ticked that I didn't bring home a doggy/kitty bag. Looks like I'll have to bake them a liver cake to make up to them.

But first, I'm going to have to go into the stairwell & do a bit of exercise today to work off those million & 1 calories. I'll bring the critters along - the dog will be up for some fun times, the cat will simply lie down & scream at me to carry him. I'll have to carry him up a few flights & make him walk down - he doesn't do up. Of course, he usually stops at every door, insisting we take the elevator down.

Thank you so much for all the well wishes and good thoughts, as well as prayers. I have no new information though after my ultrasound. I had a royal "WITCH" that did it and it was suppose to be a friend of mine that was going to do it but she was busy doing one for someone else. The one I had would NOT allow me to look at the monitor while she performed it. I could tell she was concentrating more on the "new" lump which is double the size of the first one they had found the year before. It was "painful" during the ultrasound as she pressed a little harder but that's also a good sign they say. She explained that a boob is divided into 4 parts and the area I have my cysts in are in the area that is more likely to have fibroscystic cysts. I have one that sits at 12 o'clock and the other at 1 o'clock (above the nipple - sorry if I am being TOO graphic but everyone has boobs, even men go for mamograms and ultrasounds!). So, they were wanting to see if this new one grew in the last 6 months. They were still both showing in "black" from what I was able to tell. The WITCH forget to delete the 5 pictures from the screen so I was able to view them clearly AFTER the ultrasound but I didn't share that with her!

So, I most likely won't learn anything else for about 3 weeks now. And I'll get the regular call from them saying they want to see me. They'll AGAIN requests biopsies for "peace of mind" although the specialist will say that he is quite certain that they are fibroid cysts. I wish they would just DISAPPEAR. One thing that can cause more cysts is "caffeine" and I drink Pepsi all day long. I always have a Pepsi by my side. I drink about 3-4 cans in a 24 hour period. I also take melatonin which apparently is suppose to be good for decreasing the chances of cysts!

NS - The fuse is in the back of the microwave. You need to unscrew the back cover and you should easily find the fuse. I was ready to ditch mine and told a friend of my husband's and he said "I bet it's the fuse" and he had a spare one and came and popped it in and it worked like a charm afterwards...a fuse is usually pretty cheap so I would try that first if I was you! Best of luck...

So, thanks again everyone for thinking of me. No new info on the other situation except that there was going to be another meeting with the lawyer today and then another meeting with Child Protection Services. Hopefully something will be done this week. So sad

This does NOT involve my newborn nephew. I does involve a child but I cannot reveal more than that right now. Thanks for understanding. I am going to place a call now and see if I can find out anything else.
