Haunish, what about a rabbit? They can be very affectionate & their litter box is no more pungent than that of a cat. They can even learn tricks - a friend taught her bunnies to come when called, sit up & beg & play fetch. My friend, whose rabbit hated his new soap & bit him, had full run of the house & was litter box trained (he's one of those let the creature do what he/she wants type of people, so if he could train a rabbit anyone can).
There are different breeds available, depending on how active a pet you want. Mini Rex are the Border Collies of the rabbit world - if you don't give them an outlet, they become "mini wrecks" - they'll destroy everything in sight out of boredom. Netherland Dwarfs are more like Hounds - they love people & are pretty laid back. Those are the only 2 breeds I've ever had any real dealings with, although I know of a lady who takes her Holland Lop out for walks in the yard on a leash.
Just something else to consider.

NS, I remember for the holidays Rogers had a freebie where you went online and put in your info and you got to pick a prize. Most people got 3 or 6 month subscription of a magazine. I am sure thats what you did so check it and fight em on it.

Thanks for the new words marjem.
Andit, probably not a bird, my dh has no liking for birds..lol..a rabiit I was thinking of my kids would love, but will have to talk that one over with dh as well. Would just love a pet for my kids to have and can have some interaction with. I actually had a rabbit once it lasted a week, my parents hated that thing, probably cause when they picked it up it would be on them...lol
Hope everyone has a good weekend, I am doing everything I can to get the pounding to stop in my head..some days I hate winter..ok well most days

ok, just had to post this joke. its a rare one where the newf ain't the dumb one.
3 men, a Torontonian, an Albertan and a Newfie, were out riding in the
car when it crashed into a tree. Before anyone knew it, the three men found themselves standing before the pearly gates of Heaven, where
St.Peter and the Devil were standing nearby.
"Gentlemen," the Devil started, "Due to the fact that Heaven is now
>overcrowded, St. Peter has agreed to limit the number of people
entering Heaven.
If anyone of you can ask me a question which I don't know or cannot
answer, then you're worthy enough to go to Heaven; if not, then you'll
come with me to hell."
The Torontonian then stepped up, "OK, give me the most comprehensive
report on Socrates' teachings."
With a snap of his finger, a stack of paper appeared next to the
Devil. The Torontonian read it
> > and concluded it was correct.
> > "Then, go to hell!" With another snap of his finger, the Torontonian
> > disappeared.
> > The Albertan then asked, "Give me the most complicated Formula you can
ever think of!"
With a snap of his finger, another stack of paper appeared next to the
Devil. The Albertan read it and
reluctantly agreed it was correct.
"Then, go to hell!" With another snap of his finger, the Albertan
disappeared, too.
The Newfie then stepped forward and said, "Bring me a chair!"
The Devil brought forward a chair. "Drill 7 holes on the seat."
The Devil did just that. The Newfie then sat on the chair and let out
a very loud fart. Standing up, he asked, "Which hole did my fart come
out from?"
> > The Devil inspected the seat and said, "The third hole from the right."
> > "Wrong," said the Newfie, "it's from my arshole!"
> > And the Newfie went to Heaven !!!

OMG that was too funny; thanks for
giving me something to laugh at today.
Well guys, are you as cold as we are here in Sarnia? OMG stood
on the balcony for 3 or 4 minutes and ran back inside. After such
a beautiful day yesterday, I don't enjoy the paypack today.
Michelle.... wrapped my ears and neck with my cozy scarf - it's
unbelievably warm! You rock girl!!
Are we ready for tonight's draw???? Bought a couple and like
everyone else, can only hope and wish and dream... lol
Thank you very much for the words... verbal REP is all I can do.
Does anyone have a "GREAT TASTY BBQ RIBS" recipe they'd share
with me??? Got a rack yesterday and thought it would be something
different for Sunday dinner. Must be oven though; have no BBQ anymore.
I checked online for ideas but most of 'em are done on the BBQ.
Well it's time for another coffee to get some warmth into my body -
have yourselves an awesome day!!'Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.'

*Yawn*
Ok, I'm up, I'm up. Gotta lot to do today, trying to organize some awesome hand-me-downs we got from a nurse where Brent works. Those gals always get the nicest clothes for their kids, half of it still has the damn price tags on it. LOL
Wiki is updated, seems like more weekly words than usual again. Did they add more partner sites to the list?
I'm mad about that "Possible shipping charge to Canada" thing. If they try and charge me I'm gonna go all mad-crazy on them. I've been saving the smaller account for the little blue and purple bunny for Monet, and I'm almost there..
Haunish -- I agree about a bunny.. I had several bunnies over the years and they make awesome pets. Sometimes you get one that is as snuggly as a lap-cat, and like Andit said, the litter box is not bad at all. Very friendly. I dunno about birds, I've never had one.
I'm glad to hear your daughter is healing well.. It is true that any deep puncture wounds on the head can lead to that kind of infection, which can involve the brain. Meningitis is a worry in the first few days after the puncture, but by now she is really over the possibility of that kind of seriousness. Glad to hear he is recommending the vitamin E as well, it is your best bet for "good" scars.
NS -- I was going to say the same thing as Amy, about the free short-term subscriptions. Also, sometimes Chatelaine will just send me something that looks exactly like a bill, but in small print you can see that it is actually just them offering you a subscription. I bet they get a lot of people tricked that way. I hate that kind of crap!

Hey everyone Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts and prayers. Everytime I pass by where it happens, I get bad goosebumps. It happened right in front of her son's house so I can't even begin to imagine how it will be for them
My sister called me at 11:45am this morning. I was sleeping! I wasn't feeling so hot this morning so booked off work and decided to try and catch up on lost sleep. She advised they were heading up here and wanted to know if we were going to be around. So, her and her bf and his sister and my nephew will be here around 3:30pm. It will be exciting to meet him but not jumping up for joy for seeing my sister. Anyways, the ONE day that I really felt like doing nothing (hence the reason booking off work) I had to get up in a hurry and start cleaning house. Shaun lucked out this time cause he's at work!
Will let you know how the "meet" goes
Thanks for all the new words! Going to try to head over to Pet Society and see if I can get it going!
SMB - can you please add me? I tried looking for you but there is more than one person with your name!!!!

Haunish, rabbits are great and I agree with Andit. They can be taught tricks, litter trained and they love company and playing.
I wouldn't let my daughter have one when she was little - I thought they would be stinky!!! Now that she has her own place, she has two and they are great. She also helps the owner of Rabbit Rescue out, which is a rescue agency for unwanted rabbits run by a great young lady.
Hope you get rid of the pounding....that's no fun at all.
