I have signed up for mystery shopping but most companies pay like $10-15 a signup so to me it was not worth going out of my way for.

ugh, one word on receipts and what papers to keep
receipts, keep til appliance's warranty is up, unless its something inexpensive you wouldn't bother going thru the hassel
taxes keep for 6 years, and any bills you paid off, like loans etc.
electric bills etc, just keep until the pymt shows up on their end..(monthly).
amy so sorry for that. i was marvelling at that appliance when i went looking for my microwave. Wouldn't it be a safety concern using glue? and the handle falling off? i would go to streetcents or sum other consumer show to let ppl know about this.
waranty or not, wth would want another one?

Well I complained royally on email and this afternoon I got a note stating they are sending this to another team to see if they can help. I wonder if me telling them the internet will hear how horrible this product is scared them a bit. But if nothing is done I will be bombarding the internet and review sites about this and will email them the links too.

Amy you should contact the store where you bought if from. Maybe they will exchange it or be able to get a copy of the receipt for you. Stores like WalMart and CT will do an exchange for you.
I am so anal when it comes to this kind of stuff, I keep the box, all wrapping, extra parts paperwork and the receipt. Many places won't exchange or refund without the original box now.

amy: that team they are referring to are for customers that they just can't get rid of. that won't back down, and are considered a threat to their business.
CONGRATS! i think your getting somewhere with them
tick, good tip but..
i know your supposed to save the box, but if i have to ship it to tiawana or wherever and pay for the shipping to and from, wouldn't i be better off just buying another?
when my bbq (that i just got assembled) thermometer wouldn't work, i yanked it off and took it to canadian tire, and told them it wasn't working. no way was i taking the bbq all apart and trying to return it/ whatever.
and it can work w/o it.
so they took the old one, and ordered me a new one (no charge, under warranty), but it took me like 2 weeks i think to get.Last edited by NSangel; Tue, Feb 17th, 2009 at 03:20 PM.

I keep all receipts & manuals for appliances as long as I own them (even if warranty is up). I keep bills (phone, internet, etc) for 1 year after they've been paid, tax info for 10 years. That's why my tiny apt is so so crammed (part of my spring cleaning that started last year - that is a seemingly neverending project - is to go through old receipts - literally boxes of stuff). I'm a bit obsessive, but it's not my fault, I take after my mom (she has receipts that are 12yrs old for the ancient vcr that works better than the new one). I also keep my bank books for about 5 yrs. About your toaster oven, it's weird they would have used glue. My cheap (less than $20) toaster oven has screws through the glass to hold the handle in place. Sorry I'm not much help.
