Last thing you baked?

Bran muffins! This is a recipe of my Mom's (who passed away a little over a year and a half ago, so glad I got this recipe from her!). It's a big recipe, makes about four dozen muffins, uses All Bran and Bran Flakes as well as whole wheat flour and buttermilk. You make the batter and keep it in the fridge and bake as you need.

It's amazing how powerful your sense of smell is to bring back memories. My Mom made this recipe a lot over the years. It's been awhile since I've made it, but even scent of the batter earlier today was enough to make me think of Mom. I have muffins in the oven now, the smell of those even more so.

I had a lot of ripe bananas and this morning I went bananas.
Made 2 dozens of banana muffin and banana/nut muffins, banana fritters, also had a banana with my oatmeal for breakfast.
Now the house smell of bananas!

I love these cookies tho' I don't know if I'll ever bake them - but I may try to make some of the fillings - I love the poppy seed, prune and apricot ones!
