I'm glad exercise is helping you; but exercise doesn't work for me. It is an aggravator and destroyer in my case.
2/3 of my muscle fibres are damaged/destroyed from when my 2007 flu shot paralyzed me, and I have 1/3 left to support my body and do my work. That's not enough, so I have to support myself with a cane and walker.

Any time I overtire myself by walking, lifting, or any physical activity at all, I get a relapse for weeks, and can barely stand or walk until the muscle fibers recover again. It is sometimes hard to tell when I'm over-doing, because I want to get things done and be as active as my former self, and I forget to be careful. But I always know when I've over-done it a few hours later or the next day, because my legs can't support my body.

What helps me to cope from day to day is periods of bedrest and lots of protein in my food, and over time I have healed enough to cope better than at first. The medical people don't think I'll get more improvement, but they don't know everything.

Just found this thread. So sorry to hear of all your pains. I'm in the same boat. Scoliosis, spina bifida, lots of degeneration, arthritis, nerve damage, etc. Good days and bad days. But meds help the bad days. I've yet to learn my lesson though - take it easy or you're gonna pay for it! I can't just stop doing things I love to do or have to do. So I keep on doing things I shouldn't then whine when I'm hurting. It does take a lot longer to do things now, I keep taking breaks. I was just given new exercises to do but haven't done well with them yet. I keep forgetting, honest! But if I don't do them I'll be back in a brace again and I haven't needed a brace since I was 12 or so. And it doesn't help that I'm stubborn. Also since I got on CPPD last year, I have to keep busy since I'm not working or I'll go crazy! I'm doing better though at trying not to feel sorry for myself as most people with spina bifida can't walk and I am still mobile even if it is at a slower pace. Hope everyone has a good day, nice to meet you all.

I tried it, but unfortunately the relief was short lived, so I discontinued.
However, I know others who swear by it.

I ask because my short term memory sucks.
It sucks even more when I've written down that I've taken a medication and then I can't remember if I did or not.
Today I may have double dosed on the strongest med., but I dare not call Telehealth cuz last time I did, they thought I did on purpose, and kept asking me that throughout the conversation.
I'm doing my darndest to stay awake as the somethingorother therapist is
    coming to see Grandpa today.
Perhaps more black coffee is in order?

Oh, I know it's hard to keep track.
I keep a little list on the kitchen table, with the day of the week, time, and which med I am taking. However, there have been times I've written it down and then not taken the pills, sheesh! Fortunately it doesn't happen the other way around -
Skippy, perhaps the best solution for you would be one of those pill organizers - many different varieties available, and they are inexpensive.
You can get ones divided just by days of the week, others have dividers for each day.

And, sure, coffee and a doughnut wouldn't be amiss - caffeine and a sugar boost!

I know exactly what a morphine withdrawl is, and the pain.. Not a pretty picture.. Is he seeing a Chronic Pain doctor.. if Not ask his doctor to refer him to the CPM Chronic Pain clinic in the train yards.. The doctor I see there is Dr. J. Balon..

Oh, gosh, that's awful... perhaps he can be evaluated by another specialist. Has he been to a pain clinic?
Is it a chronic condition he has, or acute?

Thank you, Redneck, Natalka....he had back surgery over 10 years ago which put him in a wheelchair for many years...long story short, with the help of meds, patches, etc, he's at least back on his feet, using a cane when he has to...
I'm not sure about the pain clinic...I know he was in contact with one, and he is finding some relief with a chiropractor there...I will pass your doc's name to him, thank you! Living so far away, it's hard to get information, even on the net...Thank you for your concern...

Lynn, that's terrible; what are those doctors thinking???
Can you intervene somehow; and contact the provincial health minister to register a complaint?
    Would Neurogen help him?

Lynn, that's terrible. Ugh, I swear some doctors are too free with the meds, others act as if you taking a piece of them every time you get a scrip. Does he have a good family doctor who could intervene?

Sorry to hear of everyone's pain.

Here's hoping tomorrow is a pain-free day for everyone. Or at least a much lesser pain day for all.

I'm doing a bit better this year with the arthritis in my hands than the past few years. I started a new hobby (making jewelry), which apparently is paying off in keeping my fingers limber. Yay for fun physiotherapy.
