Well, I did get a few hours' sleep, but it sure wasn't great. I'm sure I'll have to go back and crash again pretty soon -

It's Mother's Day bbq at the kids' home; the guys are doing everything, so we womens can just sit, sip wine and chat. You know...sort-of what guys do at most bbqs!! When they're not "flipping" things on the barbie......

I made a cute card for our DD for Mother's Day to go along with some things I bought for here home office (the "she believed she could so she did" line at Chapters)...I did it with some butterfly paper, but I cut out one of the butterflies, and had it "flying" out of the paper on the card with the hole where the butterfly used to be, with that little saying on the front. On the inside, I used the phrase: She believed in dreams, alright; but she also did something about them ~ Walt Disney. I think she'll enjoy it all...and yes, my Mom always got me something for Mother's Day, so I've continued the tradition with our DD...

It's going up to 24 today, bright and sunny, a perfect sitting-outside kind of a day!

I was so sad to hear the news about the firechief's 15 year old daughter who died in the Fort McMurry fire along with her cousin...I just cried...why? How did it happen? Nothing on the news about how this horrible thing could possibly happen!! Dreadful fire...so sad for the people who are displaced and who don't know if they will even have homes to return to when it's all over...

However....have a lovely day everyone and just be thankful for your blessings today...

Have a great weekend everyone. Looking forward to some really nice weather warm temperatures, relaxing & a bit of wining.....Come to think of it, it is our girl's weekend. It's been a challenging week for me. I've beem under the weather with some kind of cold type virus. I went to the clinic yesterday to get the doc to listen to my lungs. I don't have pneumonia or a fever anymore (as of today). Looking forward to getting out out town.

I'm the co-planner of an all-girl weekend; been trying to coordinate all year,
It gets hard to pin us all down, cause we live way down there & over here,
But, sometimes you just have to go ahead, set a date,
Send out the invites & hope to congregate,
For being together makes us feel the way we used to live,
Photo albums, scrapbooks are the gifts that we give,
Reminisce about old times & sometimes scoff at the present,
We do discuss you men folk, but we do keep it pleasant?
Sometimes we make blender drinks or Singapore slings,
& we talk & we talk about so many things,
We have wonderful music for atmosphere enhancement,
& talk about boys who once held such enchantment,
We eat very well & we dine at a beautiful table,
We don’t watch TV & we sure don’t have cable,
Although we don’t talk as often as we once did,
It’s therapeutic to find the zest that you felt as a kid,
A few extra pounds maybe added to our girlish physique,
But we still like to think that we still have mystique,
We don’t watch movies, but we go for walks,
We take a few pictures & continue our talks,
No Men Allowed! is our continuing weekend theme,
Cause boys do not fit in-an-all-girlish-scene,
I hope this comes together, as we all need the boost,
As there’s no greater times then when girls get to roost.

Looks like there will not be any menfolk there.

@Lynn49 - she was killed in a bad crash, SUV vs. a semi. She was a triplet, such a sad loss.

No time for a nap today, too busy, but will hit the sac as soon as the game's over. @Lynn49 I'm sure you had a wonderful time @ the BBQ, and I'm sure your dd loved the card.

What a lovely bbq dinner 'the boys' put on for us..DD loved the card, her gifts...good times, good chats, stories...I really am blessed.

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I'm sure we have some geeks in our midst. The post office has star trek stamps to commemorate the 50th anniversary! I'm so excited, they're super cool! They even have $5 ones that shift between two images as you move them!!! AND STAMPS WITH THE SHIPS.

Canada never gets any cool stamps. I'm so hyped about this!

Today is Doors Open Whitby. I wanted to do half a dozen places I've never seen, but I'm so sore, pulled a muscle in my back, that I'm going to try a do a couple.

No big plans for today, just around the house stuff.

Good morning...it's a pyjama day around here...we needed the rain to green-up the grass
and feed whatever's trying to grow out there, but on a weekend? That's just not fair to everyone
who works during the week and has to run errands on the weekend, for kids who want to play
outside....but...we should have leaves on the trees by the end of the week!!

Took my fpcs from sample source box and went to Walmart. But I could only find the super greens pasta lol. Oh well I'll try another store in couple days. Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
