awwww I love how Jake plays and enjoys his messy time. His fur being mostly white the bath water must look awful when you are all done I bet?
A quick dash to WM around 7:00 p.m. for me to snag 2 free apple juice ( thanks @mandy403 !! ) and scored 4 x $1.50 peelies off the Royale Velour pkgs for Tiger Towels!, which JUST happened to be on sale ( 6 for $3.98 )
Stockpile is building up again.

Saw an unbelievable 'Marketplace' episode tonight called 'The Food Dating Game'.
It was about the very common and prevalent practice in the grocery retail
industry of altering or 'getting around' best before dates. This goes on commonly even
in the better food chains like 'Loblaws', all in in the name of the almighty buck.
These are the products highlighted and which I will be very leery of purchasing in
the future:
-Bakery Dept.: Stay away from all tarts, pies and cakes not in their original form,
such as cut in half or packaged as single servings. This is done to reshelve them
with a new BB date. Tarts and cakes covered with glazed fruit are 'revamped'
by scraping wilted fruit off the custard, applying fresh fruit and then reglazing,
thereby extending the BB date.
-Meat Dept.: Common butcher trick with brown beef is to unwrap, saturate
both sides in blood in order to 'freshen' with red color, and then repackage
with new BB date. Ground beef also gets the revamping treatment by
grinding brown beef with fresh beef and blood for a completely disguised
and freshened batch. Avoid all marinaded, preseasoned meats, as the
common trick here is to use colorful and strong-scented spices to cover up
older chicken and beef, and the appalling thing is they can actually charge
more for it, because it's considered 'value added'!
Choose packaged meat from the back of the shelf, as the older stuff is
purposely put in front.
-Produce Dept.: Very common practice when workers prepare fruit or veggie
trays is to go out on the floor, collect all produce with blemishes, bruises, etc.,
cut off the bad parts and the rest goes into those prepared trays.
I was shocked and disgusted, had no idea this goes on.

margy, I knew a lot of that, but will watch the episode online.
hicks - aw, clean puppy is awesome!
Lynn, I love that your husband still calls you his bride - that's SO heartfelt!
Mine calls me his life, as opposed to his wife. Yeah, I love that!
Just spending the evening making the master grocery list for the week, doing coupons, whilst listening to and watching Masterchef Australia online.

Oh, Hicks, lol... what a lovely, happy, mangy looking little guy in the first picture! Love it!! And yes, exhausted, clean and ready for a good night's sleep...too cute! I took a pic of Jenny last night, too...our usual routine is that I pick her up, put her on her pink blankie, head on a pillow, then I wrap her up like a little burrito and there she stays until her daddy shows up, then she either goes to the end of the bed on the covers...which doesn't mean that other nights I roll over on my side and we're nose to nose ( or nose to bottom), because she's squeezed herself between our pillows, and under the blankets. Strange bit is...I never even hear her move!
Aren't they the best, though?!!
Sweet dreams everyone!!

Oh, she's so cute. Don't worry about the size.
All our puppy stories are so sweet. @Lynn49 , your Jenny is priceless. Our 'sleep' times sound similar, except Jake doesn't like to be under the covers. When I'm ready to crawl in, he paws @ the covers, pulling them back for me. After I crawl in, he curls up beside me, by the other pillow. Once I'm asleep, he goes to the foot, facing the door, for protection I understand, and I never hear / feel him move.
I love him so !!!

Oh, I forgot to tell you, I had a real scare the night before last. We were going for our early evening walk.
We went down the 1st few steps, & Jake yelped. For a second, I thought he was hurt, but it wasn't a pain yelp. He ran back up the stairs, and started clawing @ the screen door to get back in, whining all the time. Once in, he ran and hid.
I went back out to see if I could figure out what scared him.
Right in front of me, about 6 feet away, under the tree on my front lawn, was a coyote.
I'm glad I trusted his instincts. I never would have seen it.
I'll tell you, Jake was really 'off' all evening. With every sound, he hid his head under my arm.
I think I've had enough wildlife encounters for a very long time !!!

Good morning, everyone!!!
Happy Saturday to all, and in particular, our fur-babies!!!
I'm going to ask Hubby to upload the pic I took of Jenny the other night when I tucked her into her blankie for bed...if we ever have an afternoon nap, that's what I do too, and she doesn't move a muscle. Having been bred as a hunter, her instinct to be under covers comes from being bred to crawl into rabbit, and gopher holes to seek them out for hunters. Lordy, if she ever did that she'd die encountering anything like that! The brush of a branch on our toolshed makes her jump like a cat!LOL!!
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! We're off to dinner tonight with our DD and her Hubby...a lovely Italian restaurant with an extensive menu...something for everyone!
Happy day!
