Practically speaking, people who buy huge amounts of chocolate bars to rack up points, and then sell it, may realize some short term gain but they are causing themselves (and the rest of us) long term pain. Manufacturers and retailers are not stupid....when they see consumers exploiting promotions instead of enjoying them, it's a pretty good bet that their generosity will be scaled back next time around. IMO, the chocolate bar and the Nestea brags and re-sales posted all over the internet really do us all a disservice. Rubbing a manufacturers nose in how many cases of iced tea or how many hundreds of chocolate bars were scooped up is probably not very wise. While I'm sure many of us enjoyed some Nestea and some chocolate bars (including me) gloating publicly about it invites 'clamping down'. Moderation in all things is not just an old, worn-out saying....it is a wise one.

It's been interesting to read all of the varying opinions. It appears that purchasing a lot of Cadbury bars to give to a food bank is acceptable but purchasing the same number of Cadbury bars to sell is not. Why?

If someone is able to provide a little extra income for his/her family, via kijiji, in order to make ends meet, rather than having to be on the receiving end of a food bank's donations, isn't that a good thing?

I love being part of the SC community where we share deals and coupons but, let's be honest, many of us stretch the rules, at times, whether that's for our own families or in order to donate to charities:

    (1) Have you ever taken more coupons from a tear-pad than you need in order to trade them?

    (2) Have you ever asked for a gift card in exchange for your coupons? (How is that different from selling them on ebay or kijiji?)

    (3) Have you ever intentionally purchased an item simply because you would receive overage?

    (4) Have you purchased, for whatever the reason, an insane quantity of something because of the points you would receive? (How many Cadbury bars did YOU purchase or redeem for?)

    (5) How many variations of your name or address do you have available when there's a profitable Mail In Rebate offer?

    (6) . . . and the list goes on

Let's not be quite so quick to point a finger at others.

Here is information from London Drugs website re: their coupon policy regarding re-selling (note I am aware that this has to do with stacking and
    re-selling)

    4. Are there times when a customer coupon stacking privilege can be revoked at London Drugs? Yes. If we are aware that a customer is buying large quantities of products frequently for re-sale, this should not be allowed. London Drugs is a retailer, not a wholesaler. Coupons are not intended to be used for large scale frequent wholesaling practices. The store manager will revoke coupon stacking privileges for anyone buying product frequently for resale.

EDIT: added SDM policy info ~

    9. Shoppers Optimum Membership is only available to individuals. Except for organizations
participating in the “Donate your Points” program and represented by a trustee, Shoppers Optimum membership will not be available to corporations, businesses, charities, partnerships, enterprises or anyone other than an individual, unless written approval is received in advance from Shoppers Drug Mart, in its sole discretion. Shoppers Optimum Points will not be awarded if in Shoppers Drug Mart’s reasonable opinion the merchandise purchased will be used for resale or commercial use and any Shoppers Optimum Points awarded on such purchases will be forfeited. Shoppers Drug Mart reserves the right to limit Shoppers Optimum Points awarded with respect to any offer or promotion to reasonable household quantities. If a Shoppers Optimum Member was awarded points for an offer or promotion in which a Member purchased product in excess of reasonable household quantities, the Shoppers Optimum Points awarded as a result of that offer or promotion may be forfeited without prior notice.

Well, the chocolate could be a good deal for someone -- if they're willing to buy from a stranger. If I were a buyer, I'd actually prefer to know the circumstances under which the person had acquired the chocolate, and these circumstances would kind of make the purchase seem safer, as it had all been recently purchased from a reputable source.

I imagine they may not have bought with the purpose of selling... maybe they just don't know what to do with all that chocolate. I can't imagine the willpower a person would need to avoid eating chocolate on a daily basis with all that in the house!

Well i put all the blame on SDM! it's all their fault for making this too darn easy. Voila! i'm kicking so of my french in this! c'est de la snoot de pas etre aussi severe. I just bought yesterday some laundry detergent on sale and it was a max of 3 for each customer. You would think that SDM would at least make it a little more difficult to get tons at the same store. I feel way better now.

I'm just wondering how purchasing chocolate on kijiji is any different than letting our kids eat Hallowwen candy from strangers? Just saying.........at least you know where it is coming from. I think if you don't have something nice to say then don't say anything at all. Maybe they need money for shoes for their kids for school, or rent or who knows! What right do we have to judge? Me, I'm just jealous of all you people that where able to buy so much chocolate and make so many points .

Yes they did ..atleast over the weekend , so did the Burnt Almond ones and the Premium Dark chocolate ones

But now some posters are saying that you no longer get the BP for them since they don't say Dairy Milk on them , so maybe SDM either fixed the glitch or changed the rules

I don't want to offend anyone but I feel just because you are an employee of a store don't mean you can't have access to that stores specials. I do know ladies that I have gave coupons to say that "you guys get to see all the deals" and I know that they could go to work early maybe and check things out, but how many wants to or can go to work early?

I am just saying and it is only my opinion, Thanks
Yes the employees should also get this deal ..especially if you consider how little they get paid and how much crap they have to put up with from some self entitled customers

Some BP offers are actually not ok for employees to buy, their cards dont allow them so they often have a second card

They are not allowed to use any of the BP "coupons" but they do get the BP that are labeled on the shelves.
