Still fighting the battle with the ants that are trying to invade my house. And now the Cutter bees seem to think that making a home beside my back door is a good idea.
Just call me Wolfie

What is up with the ants this year Wolfie? I don't recall ever having an issue and they are everywhere this year.Must have something to do with the dry weather we are having.Anyway I saw a few in my kitchen and I have never had them in the house before, was trying to weed my garden this afternoon and they were crawling up my legs.

^ odd, we usually do have ants, but not so far this year.
Ok, I'm going to complain about the heat. It's 33, plus whatever the humidex is. It's gross, particularly paired with the gross smoke outside, so we can't have the doors open for airflow.

I don't know how your doing it Natalka, we were about 30 today and the smoke was only bad here on Tuesday, I have fans going all over the house and the basement is the only tolerable place, I weeded one flower bed and was drenched in sweat and ants! We have a 40% chance of storms tonight I hope they come, should be much cooler tomorrow..yeah!

We seem to have ants every year. While we do have a pest company in to spray, we also use Raid ant killer.

It's after 9 and it's still 26, crazy! We did open the doors once it got dark, but there is no breeze. No storm here, though it was predicted as a maybe - hopefully they got rain north of here, though.
Probably going to wreck my ears being a foot away from a fan!
Our basement is not finished, so going down there is not an option.
And the smoke is still awful - looks like with no wind, it's just not moving on fast enough.
ANTS - at the door entrance, we use borax mixed with icing sugar in a low plastic lid - works well. The ant traps never worked.
Never heard of cutter bees, had to google!

It is surprising just how many different things currently give me heartburn. 33.4wks pregnant with twins is the cause.

Is this normal summer temperatures in SK or are you having a heatwave right now? Cold spells in Ontario. 17 degrees. Even 13 last Saturday. I've been having to wear long pants and jackets for our evening walks. Haven't been able to wear summer dresses (I know this sounds stupid, but knowing that I can wear summer dresses makes living in the dark and depressing cold the rest of the year bearable for me). I'm finding myself starting my "Let's move to California" whine to DH again and I usually don't start until December.

Not really normal, we're on our second heatwave - and usually our hottest temps are end of July and beginning of August. There are usually summers we go up to 30 and a bit, but not for so many successive days - at different times.
It's all just really compounded by the smoke from the northern forest fires - and it being very very dry here. Mind you, we got several drops this morning! The humidity has been awful too.
Today should be cooler, fingers crossed.

Mall parking lot. DH dropped me off in middle of the lot and I was walking toward mall. Guy with car makes 3 u turns, nearly running me over every time. He was picking up his 20 year old daughter who was too lazy to walk 2 parking spots towards him. 3rd time I'm freaking out that he's gonna hit me so I yell out "Jesus!" Hoping that he will finally pay attention
Then his family tells me not to swear and yells at me saying I am fat
10 minutes later I'm still shaking. People can be scary and siaguatingLast edited by torontogal12; Sat, Jul 4th, 2015 at 12:49 PM.
