I caution him, he is grumpy but eventually he lets me drive him to motel to spend the night rather than drive his truck 40 kms to his oil rig he works at.

On a hunch, I drive back 30 minutes later and see him walking to truck. I call the Fuzz and wait but ended up having to confront him myself. He went ahead and drove off and I followed him, 2 blocks later the police (who know my car) saw me and arrested him.

Chances are, he will lose his license for a year at least, which means he loses his job.

It feels awful. On the other hand, he could have killed someone. Still don't feel good about it.
Thanks for doing the right thing Vesper. I think that any drunk driver who has taken a life or injured another person wishes there was someone who had cared enough to get involved and stop them from driving. Unfortunately, a lot of them don't seem to understand that until after something awful has happened. Chances are this isn't the first time he had done something like this. Please don't feel bad, you never know whose life you could have saved.

I am not required to walk up an escalator, am I? Don't yell at me if I don't walk up an escalator. Use the stairs that are right next to it and calm the eff down.

You absolutely did the right thing. My best friend from childhood was killed by a drunk driver years ago and more recently, one of my closest friends was left paralyzed after being hit by a drunk driver and I wish that there was someone like you there to stop those people from getting into their cars. There are consequences when you drink and drive and in this person's case, the consequence will likely be him losing his job. He should have thought about that.

Vesper, read the article below and you should have no regrets. This happened 3 blocks from my home a few weeks ago.I was at that intersection about 5-10 minutes prior to the accident.I was doing a bar run, picking up my daughter and her friends after a night on the town.I will pick up anyone, anytime if they have been drinking. I can't imagine being so smashed you hit the back of a cab that is stopped at a red light and hitting it at such a speed your dumb ass jacked up diesel flips over the cab. My estimate once sentenced he will probably do 3 years...despicable.
EDMONTON – An 18-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving causing death after a fatal collision in Red Deer early Saturday morning.
The crash happened around 3:30 Saturday morning, in the area of 30th Ave. and 32nd St.
RCMP say an Alberta Gold Taxi was stopped at the intersection when it was rear-ended by a truck.
Officers say the taxi suffered extensive damage in the collision, and the truck rolled onto its side.

There was a passenger in the back seat of the taxi at the time. The man, who has been identified as 33-year-old Jonathon Wood from Red Deer, was pronounced dead on scene.
The driver of the taxi was taken to the Red Deer Regional Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the truck was also taken to hospital where he is being treated for undetermined injuries.
RCMP say weather and road conditions are not considered factors in the collision.
The investigation is ongoing, but 18-year-old Tyler Wilson of Brooks, AB has been charged with one count of impaired driving causing death. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
This story was originally published Saturday, November 2. It was updated at 5:53 p.m. Sunday, November 3 to include charges.

His stupid choice, his consequences. You probably saved someone's life (including his)

A lot of people have lost someone due to drunk drivers. My family included

This very incident happened to me a few weeks ago going down the escalator. If you don't like it, don't go behind someone on the single-person only escalator. Did you ever think someone who is on the escalator might have mobility problems and actually NEED it to move for them? Not like there's a set of stairs right next to it or anything. Losers.

Kudos for doing the right thing. You'll feel much worse if that person drunk killed someone knowing you could have done something to prevent it.

I need to get healthier rant: in the last year I gained enough weight that non of my pants fit except the couple stretch pants i have and all my bras dig into me. Im on a tight student budget so buying clothing is not as easy as it sounds.

ahh the student diet.. your on a budget, your busy with classes/studying/sometimes a job.. you don't have the time to spend a half hour making a meal then washing dishes..and often buying each aspect gets more expensive then something cheap or instant (and small amounts of everything is always a higher price) if it helps..after christmas there will be alot of clothing sales..

I agree but at the same time people still need to understand that you are not required to walk up an escalator. I used to see this man every day who had a service dog with him. He'd stand to the right but his dog would stand next to him and I've seen people shove aside the dog. I've also seen people shove small children who are holding their parent's hand and standing next to them, so they can run up the escalator. If they're in that much of a hurry, they should be using the stairs that are right next to it.

I hate these people. You really need to push dogs and children aside so they can save a millisecond by climbing up the escalator instead of the stairs?
