We have major flooding issues around here. Citizens in half of Brantford have been given immediate mandatory evacuation messages. The SPCA moved it's animals to the airport and are asking for help with supplies. New Hamburg was flooded when a levy broke. Major ice dams. 2-3 foot ice jams over the main hwy through town in Cambridge and both bridges across the river closed. The ice jam at the bridge broke a main water main. A friend was out of water for a while!
Can't believe it's happening right here. The notorious-for-flooding Nith River runs right under the 401. Haven't heard anything about flooding affecting 401, though. Don't MESS with Mother Nature!

Avon, I heard about the flooding, it's awful.
Are you near Orangeville where that three year old boy is missing?

No, Nat, not very close to Orangeville. His mom drove past a "Road Closed" sign. We just don't anticipate that bad things can happen. How completely devistated she must feel.

Our flooded river is the Grand River and it's tributary, the Nith. It flows right down to the lake so there are many communities that will still face flooding further downstream.

I just read, though, that the river that the little boy was swept away by was also the Grand. That is about 50 minutes drive from here.

Lots to do tomorrow, so I had better get to sleep.

Hope you sleep well, Nat. Good night, everyone!

wah!!!!! We lost the Gold medal to the USA gals in a shootout!!!
I may need chocolate cake therapy to get through the day

Good morning everyone, I fell asleep for a bit and totally forgot to get that corned beef brisket going so it is in the pressure cooker now. Rufus got himself all groomed up yesterday and looks so handsome. He is going to the vet today to get his eye situation looked at. I didn't tell him he is also due for a Leptospirosis shot.

Happy PC Optimum new offers day! Mine were lame.

Good morning all. @walkonby I was also disappointed about the women hockey loss. I will have to be out and about today to do my errands. @avoncallingu my DD has friends who live in Branford and the ad to leave because of the flooding. My heart goes out to the mom who’s child was swept away into the river. Have a great day all

Oh, I am sad to hear about the women's hockey result! Does that mean that we got the silver? Think of all of the years of training and hard work and then coming so close!

Well, I am beginning to get morning "kisses" from this little girlie -just tiny licks on my hand or arm but it's lovely to think she feels like she can trust me to that extent.

My neighbor (who is moving and is also hard of hearing) let me know that she barked incessantly the other day when we were away. I'm trying to get her to feel comfortable in her new crate but that is a very long process. She certainly doesn't "trust" me in that situation.

Well, I have miles to go before I sleep and promises to keep today so I should launch. I took a muscle-relaxant last night and those things always knock me out. I was supposed to phone my friend "early" this morning. Her early is 6:30. My early seems to be now.

Walks, I hope Rufus gets good news from the vet and forgives you about the shot.

    Have a great "Throw-back Thursday."

    Good morning everyone!
That sure was a heart breaker for our Canadian women's hockey team.

^^^ tee hee @GoJays hoping you can continue to shuffle along until the F-day arrives.
@avoncallingu so sweet you got kisses from Tootie.
Rufus was a real trooper at the vets, and he was just so tolerant considering we were there for a full hour.
Between the arms around him restricting movement for drawing blood, getting his shot and the thorough physical exam he went through I was surprised not even a growl came out of him.
Vet confirmed he is an old dog, ( 14 in March ) so the fact that his weight stayed exactly the same as last visit is wonderful.
    I should be so lucky!

With the eye prodding he suffered through, (a test involving putting a paper stick in there, similar to litmus paper I guess ), shining a bright light in there many times over...gosh I was reminded of the scenes from A Clockwork Orange!
Well, he passed the tear test just barely, meaning he produced enough tears on the stick.

The Vet seems to think this is an ulcer in his eye.
He will have to wear a cone of shame ( Rufus, not the vet! ) 24/7 for a week, receive 1 eye drop every 4 hrs and then get
re-examined to see if the ulcer is improving. If it is, we carry on, if not he has to be sent to see a doggy eye specialist.
Another $400.00 flew out of my wallet, but geesh, poor Rufus, I actually did not mind the cost this time, he just looked so sad.

We've had some upsets in " Day Whatever this is " of these Olympics, like the Men's curling team and the Ladies hockey team both losing to the USA.
I wonder if the athletes feel winning the bronze medal while playing out their final opponent in a game is more rewarding than winning the Silver because you LOSE to be awarded that Silver whereas you win to get the Bronze.

o.k. I must surf some threads now. ta ta !
